I am the clinical psychologist and director of a team of treatment providers who offer an integrated approach to mental health therapies. We strive to provide empirically established and structured mental health treatments while integrating psychotherapy, psychiatric medication management, and counseling. We are scientist-practitioners who pursue long-term positive changes for our patients and we believe that the ultimate goal of clinical work is not only the alleviation of psychopathology and symptoms, but the realization of long-term aspirations, the pursuit of meaning, and interpersonal satisfaction.

I have been working in the field of Social Work/Mental Health since 2011. I am passionate about supporting individuals in learning about and processing through the ways life experiences and traumas have impacted them. I find that often times (not always) people develop symptoms related to anxiety, depression & other mental/behavioral health issues because of how they have learned to respond to and survive through traumas and adverse life experiences.

When we are experiencing psychological suffering, it is natural to want to find relief from our distress. Too often, though, our ways of coping or protecting ourselves from pain only lead us to more distress in the long run. We frequently find ourselves back in the same rut, or repeating the same mistakes over and over without knowing why.

I believe healing is not about erasing the past or becoming someone new. It is about understanding where you came from, recognizing how your experiences shaped you, and developing the skills and self-trust needed to move forward with intention. I offer therapy as a steady, respectful partnership for clients who want to heal deeply and live with greater clarity and balance. My clinical approach is grounded, collaborative, and practical. Much of my work centers on supporting individuals who have spent years in survival mode and are ready to understand themselves with greater clarity, compassion, and choice.

Do you long to move through life with more ease, clarity, and choice? Many people find that past stress or overwhelming experiences shape how their mind and body respond, often leaving them feeling guarded, disconnected, or stuck. These responses aren’t signs that something is wrong; they’re learned ways of staying safe. I work with individuals who want to feel more grounded, emotionally regulated, and connected to themselves and others. My specialty is helping clients gently restore a sense of safety and self-trust through mind-body–based therapy, supporting both emotional insight and nervous system regulation.

You have been through a lot — abuse, family dysfunction, marital challenges, grief, abandonment. A lot of the time, you feel like you’re holding it together and fulfilling your responsibilities. But there are moments when it feels like you might come crashing down — you find yourself yelling at or completely shutting off from people you care about. Or you experience waves of emotions like sadness that seem to come out of nowhere. Maybe it’s challenging to have close relationships. The ways that you developed to cope with hardship are getting in the way of your life now — you want to feel capable of handling situations intentionally.

If you're feeling lost, overwhelmed, or stuck in patterns that just won't shift, you're not alone. Many of us go through life feeling disconnected—from ourselves, from others, and sometimes from the path we want to be on. But the truth is, we are all wired for connection, and it's through building that connection, both with ourselves and others, that healing begins.

I work from a psychodynamic perspective, partnering with you to uncover unconscious patterns and learn from early relationships.
What we don't let out traps us. We think, 'No one else feels this way, I must be crazy.' So we don't say anything. And we become enveloped by a deep loneliness. - Sabrina Ward Harrison There's no need to do this alone. I can parter with you in helping diminish the loneliness, the anxiety, and the heaviness. Together, we’ll explore the unconscious narratives, patterns, and behaviors that shape how you show up in the world. As we bring these into awareness, we can begin to reshape the stories that may no longer serve you, creating space for new ways of living that are aligned with your core self.

Do you feel like things are just weighing you down in life? Maybe you're searching for tools to help you move forward—whether that means setting boundaries, shifting your mindset, or simply learning to sit with what’s hard. The weight of depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and self-doubt can be debilitating. It can zap our energy, cause us to lose interest in things we used to enjoy resulting in low energy and no motivation. Unhealthy relationships cause us to doubt ourselves; patterns seem to repeat themselves and we can lose ourselves, begin to question our self-worth and struggle to find our place in this world.

Even though transitions are a part of all of our lives, they sometimes stir up old pain or are just too overwhelming to navigate without some help. You deserve the time and support to work through it and counseling can provide that for you. I believe in a person centered, interpersonal, cognitive behavioral and strengths based counseling approach. I have over 20 years of experience using these approaches working with individuals of all ages dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, chronic illnesses and transitions at all stages of life.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
