I work with adults (18+) ready to cultivate inner peace. Finding time during a busy week can be difficult, so I offer weekend appointments. Many feel fragmented navigating life's heavy realities; together, we safely explore all parts of you. Using a trauma-informed, psychoanalytic approach, I guide you toward profound self-understanding—nurturing discomfort and healing wounds to move toward an integrated life. I offer a virtual sanctuary for trauma, personality disorders, self-injury, OCD, anxiety, depression, and substance use. You don’t have to carry your world alone. If you are ready for growth, I would be honored to hold space.

You’ve maintained this far. You keep pushing: just one more dish, one more email, one more day until the weekend. You’re holding on by a thread and you feel ready to unravel. The typical things you do to ‘reboot’ aren’t working. You feel disconnected, off, worn incredibly thin, and are very aware that this feeling is just lurking under the surface. With years of experience in mental health and a passion for helping people regain their inner strength, you can escape that slow drowning feeling you are currently experiencing. You are the expert of your life, even if right now you feel anything but, and I can help you find that path.

Before we can understand others, we must first seek to understand ourselves. Life is traumatic no matter what we have or haven’t been through. I’ve been there. Judged. Shamed. Scared. Paralyzed. Overwhelmed. Checked out. Emotionally exhausted. Avoiding. Escaping with drugs, food, gambling, etc.

I’m a bilingual (English/Spanish) Afro-Latina and Indigenous therapist based in Haslett, Michigan, near MSU. I provide in-person therapy in Michigan and telehealth services across Michigan and Florida.
Many people come to therapy feeling emotionally overwhelmed, exhausted, disconnected from themselves, or unsure how to explain what they’ve been carrying for so long. Some have spent years caring for others, adapting, continuing to push themselves forward, or questioning themselves after repeatedly feeling misunderstood, criticized, or “too much.” You do not need to have all the words to begin.

Hi friends! I work with kids, teens, and young adults who feel stuck, anxious, or unsure where to start. For the overthinkers, the big feelers, and the trying-their-besters, this space is for you. Life can feel heavy, chaotic, or confusing, and it’s easy to lose sight of what feels possible. Here you can breathe, laugh, and just be yourself. Some days we’ll explore the hard stuff. Other days we might simply sit with your thoughts and notice what comes up. I know when to ask tough questions and when a well-timed joke can lift your mood. My goal is to help you feel steady, seen, and more confident in the next steps of your journey.

I’m not the “perfect therapist," but I meet you human to human, no pretending.

I specialize in helping people who are tired of being everything to everyone, couples who can’t seem to stop arguing about “nothing,” and "everything," trauma and/or anxiety that just seems to keep coming up, and children who swear they don’t need/want therapy, but secretly appreciate talking to someone who is not their parents' for an hour.
My therapy style is down-to-earth, collaborative, and infused with just enough humor to make the hard stuff feel a little lighter. I am here to help you better understand yourself, your relationships, and how healing begins when we feel truly seen, heard, and supported.

Hello, I am a bilingual and bicultural, Mexican-American therapist who works with Latino and other BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and neurodivergent adults and youth — including high-achievers and those navigating life’s challenges — to address ADHD, anxiety, and identity-related stress within the context of cultural and personal expectations. Body Image Therapists
How does body image affect mental health?
Poor body image can influence mental health because it can reduce self-esteem and decrease functioning in other areas of one's life. Negative body image may hinder someone's ability to perform daily tasks, including professional and social responsibilities, because they may feel self-conscious or shame surrounding their appearance; a desire to change one's body as a result of negative body image can also trigger behaviors such as extreme dieting, excessive exercise, or obsessive social media comparison. Poor body image is associated with a number of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and eating disorders, although many people experience negative body image even in the absence of meeting the diagnostic criteria for any mental health disorders.
What does it mean to have a positive body image?
Body image refers to how one internally perceives their appearance and internally "talks" to themself about their body. Positive body image is therefore indicative of a positive perception of one's self and positive internal self-talk that underscores one's strengths. People who have good body image often have higher self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence, and they also often recognize how external factors, such as social media or relationship patterns, can influence body image. While body image can change at different life stages and in response to various triggers, practicing self-acceptance and a body-positive mindset can help maintain a more stable sense of positive body image.
Is body image the same as self-esteem?
Body image and self-esteem are often related, but they are distinct concepts. Self-esteem is a broader term that can be shaped by a number of factors outside of body image, including one's functioning at school or in the workplace; it refers to one's capacity to handle various life challenges. Poor body image can be one way in which one's self-esteem is reduced. Reduced self-esteem as a result of poor body image can cause individuals to feel negative about their appearance, withdraw from social interactions, and/or rely on harmful behaviors as a coping mechanism. A "body positive" approach to body image therapy is therefore often used to encourage a more positive view of one's self and thus encourage better self-esteem.
What type of therapy is best to foster a positive body image?
The type of therapy best suited to improve body image depends on each person, as there is not a single therapy specific to body image improvement. That said, many individuals with poor body image benefit from therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based therapy. CBT can be used to help challenge distorted or negative thoughts about one's body, while ACT and mindfulness practices can facilitate a more positive body image through self-acceptance and identification of one's personal strengths. Regardless of treatment type, clients should look for body image therapists who encourage the development of a sense of self outside of their external appearance and help clients reduce unwanted behaviors developed as a result of poor self-esteem, such as dieting or disordered eating patterns.
