That's why it's so important to connect with someone who can help get to where you want to be in life with the right tools, while also being someone you can trust to provide you with a calm, supportive, and safe space to do so to work on the really tough parts that hold you back from what you want, like trauma, relationship issues, and other struggles.
Have you been struggling for a while now on something within your life? Whether it's relationships, life transitions, trauma, or just trying to navigate things in this ever changing world? You feel you have an idea of what you want, and the motivation to change and grow, but don't know where to start.

The concerns that life brings us vary widely, but I often see people struggle with stress management, anxiety, depression, school or work-related concerns, relationship difficulties, parenting concerns, and the uncertainty of life's transitions. My approach is both collaborative and person-centered, while always rooted in evidence-based practices. I also specialize in couples and family therapy.
The more you understand yourself and your patterns of behavior the better you can make positive change. Do you have marital issues that you are struggling with and need an honest objective opinion? Are you struggling with depression or anxiety and can’t seem to get out of the cycle? Many times it is another set of ears that is needed to help bring objectivity and clarity to an issue of life's crossroads. I also enjoy helping people understand why they keep repeating negative patterns and behaviors. Therapy can be very positive and inspire you to make changes.

I treat patients across the lifespan: women's issues, adults, adolescents, children & couples ).
Client needs are my FIRST priority. I am a specialist in evidence-based treatments (EBT), which radically improves my client's success rates, increases effectiveness of treatment, and gets results quickly. The majority of my client's report improvements, within the first session: life-functioning (work- home-school-relationships) and report immediate reduction in symptoms. Reducing anxiety/panic, decreasing depression, developing stronger coping strategies to stress and balancing mood dysregulation are my specialty, as symptoms can result from adjustment challenges to sudden life changes: parenthood/divorce/grief/college. We collaborate on thinking traps, tracking triggers, modifying behavior, successful coping skills and strengthening resiliency.

Anxiety, depression and anger, work or relationship troubles, grief and loss, abuse and sexual identity concerns are some of the many common issues I help people navigate on a daily basis.
I have found that people tend to seek therapy when they are experiencing some kind of stressful situation in their life. You may have found that you keep repeating bad patterns or that you feel stuck in your relationships or your job and you don't know what to do to get unstuck. We all need to find someone we can feel safe sharing our deepest concerns with and we want to feel understood. Whether the work is brief, or more long-term, I am passionate about helping you to develop behavior changes that will lead to healing and eventually to you fulfilling your potential.

You are not alone when having difficulty dealing with the storms of life. Many of us experience challenges, yet oftentimes it is difficult to find a safe person and space to express these concerns without being judged. Life changes constantly and sometimes every day events leave you feeling overwhelmed, drained and unmotivated. Each day can be extremely difficult for you. Constant demands of family, work and relationships are stressful, and you know it’s time to make some changes. Losses of all kinds whether the loss of a loved one, job, or relationship , can trigger a mirage of emotions or feelings of lack of control.

“The only constant in life is change.” Are you adjusting to a: new job, relationship , loss of a loved one, or overall change in your way of life? Do you feel overwhelmed by the many changes causing you to feel stagnant? You notice others seemingly accepting change fluidly throughout their lives and are somewhat in awe of the process. You are tired of replaying the same scenario in your head while your sadness and anxiety escalate.

Most often I work with people seeking help with the common challenges of adult life: relationship /family issues; grief and loss; adult child recovery; depression; codependency; addictions; health concerns; career/financial challenges; and unfulfilled spiritual yearnings - drawing from cognitive-behaviorial, psychodynamic, and transpersonal methodology.
Finding the best individual and marriage therapist for you can seem daunting. Talking to us, asking questions, paying attention to your feelings and intuition, all help. My 30 years experience as a compassionate, well-trained psychotherapist give me the background and skills to support you in achieving your goals, which might include: resolving immediate symptoms; recognizing and appreciating core strengths; developing deeper self awareness and acceptance; and learning the skills of empowered, effective communication. I am experienced in working with the newer spiritual growth paradigms, as in the work of Eckhart Tolle.

I help clients to "connect the dots" from their present problems (addictions, acting out behaviors, negative core beliefs, low self-esteem, relationship conflicts, substance abuse, obesity) to an unhealed, deeper issue that evolved during childhood or from a past trauma.
Are you unable to achieve the goals and dreams that you desire? Are you suffering from internal upset, fears, flashbacks of a trauma, insecurities, self-doubt, feeling unloved, disheartened or deep sadness? Are your relationships "not working", conflictual, "empty" and non-supportive? Do you think, "Why can't I make the changes that I want in my life and live the life I desire?" If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, contact me now. I know that I can be of service to you in a rewarding, life changing manner. It is time. YOU are worth it!

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
