I enjoy working with individuals, families and couples. My goal is to provide a warm, non-judgmental and inviting space to process and improve: relationships (familial, friendships, work or love), difficulty balancing obligations, challenges with stress or anxiety, self-esteem issues and/or depressive tendencies. I help people identify relational, thought and behavioral patterns that may have once been functional but are no longer helpful. My ideal client is looking for active therapy that has a practical application to help with immediate symptom relief while also changing lifelong patterns of behavior for longer term change.

“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.” (Rumi) You matter. What you think and feel matter. How you are treated matters. What you have been through matters. Perhaps you are a new mom, feeling overwhelmed and scared to admit things aren’t picture perfect. Perhaps you’re going though a hard transition, and feeling alone, lost, or confused. Maybe you’re no longer sure a relationship, or a job, is right for you, and are tired of not feeling seen or heard, valued or understood. Maybe constant worrying, or a hurtful past, is keeping you from living your life the way you want-with laughter, love, and hope.

You may feel trapped by past pain or uncertainty, but everything you need to rise, heal, and thrive is already within you, waiting to be awakened! I especially love working with children and adolescents, as I have found this stage of life to be profoundly informative - full of challenges, growth, and opportunities that can shape how a person understands themselves and their place in the world. I use TF-CBT as my main approach and also integrate brainspotting techniques, which allow the brain and body to process experiences in new ways.

Women's issues- the challenges of motherhood and the pressure to "do it all", especially- are of particular interest to me.
Since 2003, I have helped children, teens, and adults cope with and overcome the emotional and behavioral issues hindering their happiness and confidence. Helping others recognize what their own joyful, balanced life looks like and empowering them, step by step, to achieve it is my passion.

You may be carrying more than you share with others. Anxiety, frustration, stress, sadness, grief, relationship strain, or the weight of major life transitions can leave you feeling stuck or unsure where to turn next. You deserve a space where your experiences are heard without judgment and where you can slow down, understand what you’re feeling, and learn new ways to cope. If you are a senior, you may prefer a therapist like me who is also a senior. Whether you are navigating aging, disability, caregiving, or ongoing emotional pain or trauma, therapy can help you regain clarity and move forward with more confidence.

“There is something in every one of you that waits and listens for the sound of the genuine in yourself. It is the only true guide you will ever have. And if you cannot hear it, you will all of your life spend your days on the ends of strings that somebody else pulls.” ― Howard Thurman.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
