There is never a better time to take the first step than the present. I am an LMSW and LCSW and practice telehealth therapy in CO, NM, MI and SD. Mental health issues, such as depression and anxiety, along with various life stressors can feel overwhelming and debilitating. The therapeutic journey begins with listening, understanding and a non-judgmental environment. We all want to be heard and understood. I offer a variety of flexible psychotherapeutic interventions to deal with life stressors such as grief, trauma, work and relationship obstacles that cause mental health issues such as anxiety and depression.

An important aspect of any therapeutic relationship is the rapport and ease you have in discussing your issues and concerns with your therapist.
I believe the right fit between the client and therapist is in large part a function of the flexibility in approach and ways of intervening with you as an individual client.
I see the therapeutic relationship as being a collaborative partnership that is outcome focused in addressing your issues and concerns.
The emphasis is on doing what is most effective in moving you toward your desired outcomes in the least amount of time possible.

No matter how hard you try to move forward, you feel like your taking one step back. You’re a high performer with perfectionism tendencies and always put on a smile, which helps you forget your pain. You feel you will never be fully happy and never be able to fully enjoy life how others do, because of your many losses, attributing to your decreased self esteem. You may keep friends and family at a distance, to protect yourself from yet another inevitable loss. You may have stopped exercising and taking care of yourself the way you used to, since it takes too much work and you're just surviving at the end of another long day.

I work with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, career issues, chronic illness, relationship and interpersonal conflicts.

For anyone searching for an ally in approaching the challenges of life, choosing therapy can be a great option. In particular, I help folks who are coping with trauma, depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I specialize in working with individual adults, adolescents, and with families (parent-child focus). Another area of experience is helping individuals and families from adolescence to adulthood in understanding and navigating neurodivergence, especially as related to Autism. I welcome folks from any walk of life, though my practice is explicitly anti-racist, LGBTQQ+ positive, disability-conscious, and cognizant of systemic harm.

As a child I never liked seeing anyone sad or hurt so growing up all I knew at the time was that “I wanted to help people”. As a young adult I realized that social work could be the answer to how I could make people feel better about themselves and their lives. So, I took on the challenge and here I am. As a service worker, I introduce my talents that consists of working with the Geriatric population, homeless teenage girls with and without children, finding employment for felons before re -entering society, mental health and substance abuse treatment for all walks of life.

Welcome! I am Nina. Here is little bit about me, my work, credentials and how I can help. I earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology from UCLA and a graduate degree in Counseling Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology. I value a relational therapy approach that understands humans as “a part of” rather than living in a void. As such - I look at individuals within systems, pay attention to barriers within them as well as impact of social concepts, varying levels of access within relationships and systemic dynamics.

How can I find a therapist in Ann Arbor?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
