You want to feel grounded, connected and successful, but trauma and anxiety are leaving you feeling shaken, damaged, and disconnected from your true self. Is anxiety or recent or past trauma making it feel like life is out of control? Maybe you're caught in a spiral of worry or stress you can't seem to stop, constantly second-guessing yourself. Or maybe you're frustrated and exhausted by it all: feeling like you've done everything you know how to do to feel better, but you're still feeling triggered or on edge all the time. You might be seeing patterns in your relationships that you want to change. You're ready to feel better now.

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. Brene Brown once said, “Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they’re never weakness”. Our experiences in life can sometimes leave us feeling sad, angry, confused, lost, and everything in between. Whether you’re struggling with experiences of trauma, depression, anxiety , loss, any relational conflicts, or school difficulties, I’m here to walk alongside you on a path towards vulnerability and compassion for all parts of you. Instead of being who you’ve had to be (because trauma), this journey can bring you to who you’re meant to be.

As we strive for greater insight into ourselves and our relationships, we often come face to face with our deepest doubts and fears . Finding the courage to achieve lasting personal growth requires a safe and structured space for telling our stories and unraveling the knots that cause us pain. As a therapist with eighteen years of experience, my approach to providing such a space is both integrative and collaborative. I draw on well-established practices of attachment-informed, mindfulness, CBT, and psychodynamic exploration to help clients grow and navigate the challenges in their lives.

I provide a safe space for recovery from Eating Disorders, Trauma, Anxiety & Depression and realize these issues are more prevalent than ever. Many of us didn't get the guidance or safety we needed to build the kind of awareness or skill-set needed to calm ourselves or even recognize the emotions that we all have. My focus is to help my clients feel safe, so they can explore and name their emotions, needs and what type of skills might help them to soothe through whatever difficulties come their way. My hope is that you will feel you have more space for what you want in your life and less of the racing thoughts, discomfort and pain.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
