I do not limit my practice to serving only those who consider themselves “a person with a disability;” however, I do appreciate that EVERYONE has their own set of strengths and weaknesses. My goal is to help the individuals I work with identify and enhance their strengths so they can more efficiently use them to minimize the effects of weaknesses as barriers to achieving their goals and improved quality of life. To achieve these outcomes, I rely upon evidence-based cognitive and behavioral interventions, including
Acceptance
& Commitment Therapy that are tailored to each client’s unique history, present concerns, and future plans.

ACT
, as well as adventure / experiential therapy, music therapy, Collaborative Problem Solving, and linkage to community resources.
For anyone searching for an ally in approaching the challenges of life, choosing therapy can be a great option. In particular, I help folks who are coping with trauma, depression, anxiety, and ADHD. I specialize in working with individual adults, adolescents, and with families (parent-child focus). Another area of experience is helping individuals and families from adolescence to adulthood in understanding and navigating neurodivergence, especially as related to Autism. I welcome folks from any walk of life, though my practice is explicitly anti-racist, LGBTQQ+ positive, disability-conscious, and cognizant of systemic harm.

You strive for perfection in everything you do, but the pressure inside is building up. You
act
so strong like you have it all together, yet internally you overanalyze everything. It’s difficult for you to take breaks and struggle to ask for help. You fear failure and don’t want to let other people down. You prioritize taking care of everyone else and neglect your own needs. It is time for a change. It’s time to learn how to listen to your inner voice. You are ready to live a life free of self-criticism, workaholism, and perfectionism.

I use evidence-based treatments such as CBT &
ACT
, but your therapy will be tailored to your specific needs and goals.
You deserve to start living again, not just surviving. It's time to feel better. Maybe you have been feeling depressed or not like yourself. You might be dealing with anxiety and negative self-talk that keeps you from living the life you want. This may have started yesterday, or a decade ago, but it is worth addressing regardless. Your thoughts and emotions are important, and you deserve a therapist who prioritizes your wants and needs. It would be a pleasure to work with you through this challenge. It’s time to begin your journey towards understanding, confidence, and happiness.

It is a hard time to be a human being on this planet. We didn't choose our brains, our bodies, our upbringings; we can't control how other people behave; and yet we are still responsible for ourselves and our own emotions. If you're struggling to make sense of your emotions and behaviors, I provide a safe space to explore and understand your patterns while also finding ways to
act
more effectively, in alignment with your values.

We’ll engage in that activity in a mindful, trauma-informed way and have deep, reflective conversion, weaving together relevant threads from
ACT
, DBT & more.
You’re a little different. You’re seeking more out of life than mainstream society implies is possible. Perhaps you’ve always felt that there’s some piece missing but you can’t put your finger on it, or that you have a calling that you haven’t discovered yet. You feel things strongly. You may have been told that you feel things too much, or that you are too much. Maybe you’re looking for a better way to live with anxiety, depression, a trauma history, or an illness you can’t make sense of. Maybe you’re not sure what’s wrong, but you know things aren’t quite right. You wonder if there’s anyone else like you. I’m so glad you're here.

I help people to build self-efficacy and
acceptance
using principles from cognitive behavioral (CBT),
acceptance
and commitment (
ACT
), and dialectical behavioral therapies (DBT), among other interpersonal, strengths based approaches.
I believe all people have profound inherent worth, and that self-
acceptance
and compassion are core components of living well. Anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional difficulties can cloud our ability to see ourselves as whole, beautiful, functioning people, and I work warmly, respectfully, and joyfully to help my clients get movement in areas where they may feel stuck. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, personality disorders, phobias, grief, and issues related to couples and relationships.

Although my approach is grounded in CBT, when appropriate, I integrate mindfulness techniques, components of
Acceptance
and Commitment Therapy (
ACT
), and Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to enhance the treatment and support movement toward accomplishing treatment goals.
My practice specializes in the application of evidence-based therapy for a range of behavioral, emotional and relational concerns. I am an integrative practitioner, which means that I commonly work by combining a number of evidence-based therapeutic approaches which are tailored to an individual’s specific needs. My work primarily draws from Cognitive-behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is an approach to therapy supported by research and has been shown to be effective for a number of problems, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), insomnia, and relationship problems.

My approach to therapy is based on trauma-informed practices, centering empathy, mindfulness and radical
acceptance
.
I strive to create an affirming space where you can engage with vulnerability and self-reflection. No one knows your experience better than you. That is why I emphasize collaboration and self-determination in our therapeutic relationship and encourage you to explore your own values, strengths and wants in therapy. My practice is grounded in anti-oppressive frameworks that aim to recognize and address the impact that systemic violence and social injustices can have on your wellbeing. I value an honest therapeutic relationship and to be part of the system that supports your wellness and joy.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.
What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.
Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.
How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
