I’m a psychotherapist with over 15 years of experience helping people move beyond symptom management into a more grounded and integrated way of being. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and ADHD. I bring together depth-oriented psychotherapy with applied neuroscience in a practical, down-to-earth way. This approach supports meaningful, lasting change by addressing both the nervous system and the deeper patterns that shape how we relate to ourselves and others. My goal isn’t simply to help clients feel better - it’s to help them become better at feeling, more present, and more fully alive.

Life is like a ball of yarn. It starts wrapped up nicely in a neat fashion. As time goes on it becomes tangled, knotted, and difficult to unravel. My goal as a therapist is to help you unravel those difficult emotions and encourage you when it seems like the knot will never come undone. I use body work, mindfulness, and person-centered approaches in my practice. During sessions we may sit on the floor, move our bodies, grab a cozy blanket or have a warm cup of tea. My goal is to help you find a place of peace in life.

You’re capable, driven, and full of potential — but you also want more than just “getting by.” You’re craving balance, clarity, and deeper fulfillment in your life and relationships. Even with your strength and ambition, you sometimes feel weighed down by stress, self-doubt, or old patterns that hold you back. Deep down, you know you’re capable of creating the life you want — you just need the space, support, and tools to get there. Therapy with me is about reconnecting with yourself and building a foundation for the life you’re ready to step into.

My therapeutic practice is very distinct in its approach, combining deep intentionality with a commitment to human empowerment through education. I believe that knowledge is power, and it’s my mission to help clients understand the “why” behind their behaviors to unlock their potential for rapid transformation. I use evidence-based, person-centered cognitive behavioral techniques to help clients rewire their thoughts and behaviors. By exploring the science behind their patterns, clients gain the tools to take control of their minds and make lasting change.

I believe the most powerful transformation comes from a combination of techniques to understand and reset non-adaptive patterns, including neurofeedback, other forms of biofeedback, such as heart rate variability, emotional freedom technique (EFT), and a personality assessment I use called the Enneagram, combined with behaviorally-based counseling, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I hold a Ph.D. in Inter-disciplinary Health Sciences from Western Michigan University (WMU), an MSW from the University of Michigan, and a Bachelor of Science in psychology, magna cum laude, from WMU, and I am board certified in neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA). Also, I am Lyme, mold and PANS/PANDAS informed.

Can biofeedback help with anxiety?
Biofeedback is often used to treat anxiety, including generalized anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. Anecdotal evidence and some research studies have found that it can improve symptoms of these disorders, sometimes significantly; however, studies on biofeedback have typically been small and researchers have cautioned that many have significant limitations, such as limited follow-up or a lack of a control group.

Is biofeedback evidence-based?
There is some evidence that biofeedback can effectively treat certain conditions; for example, its efficacy in treating headaches and urinary incontinence is generally thought to be well-established. There is also promising, but less conclusive, evidence that it can aid in stroke recovery or help someone manage a mental health disorder such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD.

What is the difference between biofeedback and neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback that measures brain activity specifically; it is typically used to treat psychological or neurodevelopmental concerns such as ADHD, depression, insomnia, or autism spectrum disorder. Biofeedback is a broader category that, in addition to neurofeedback, also includes electromyogram, heart rate variability, and thermal biofeedback, each of which measures a particular physiological function (muscle activity, heart rate, and skin temperature, respectively)

What are the limitations of biofeedback?
While biofeedback may be helpful for certain conditions, its efficacy is less assured for others, such as high blood pressure. People with certain health conditions such as heart arrhythmia may not be able to benefit from biofeedback because their condition may interfere with the machines’ readings. Biofeedback can also be time-consuming and costly, and may not be covered by health insurance.
