While relationships have the power to injure they also have the power to heal. When early experiences have been less than optimal, building relationships can be challenging, both inside and outside of therapy. This affects family, friendships, employment and, most importantly, your relationship with yourself. I will work with you on trying to make sense of why certain patterns repeat in your life. We will consider the ways in which you survived past hurts and how that might interfere with living a fuller life today.
I use an eclectic, psychodynamic, approach. While the foundation of my practice is relational, our work together may also include mindfulness, psycho-education, attention to self-care, and cognitive behavioral techniques. I have extensive experience working with adults abused as children and have specialized training in working with dissociative disorders.
I bring patience and the ability to "hang in there," as I keep in mind the ways in which the past may be affecting our relationship. My intention is to provide a non-judgmental space filled with curiosity about your experiences. As we collaborate on finding the right pace for our work together we will plant the seeds for change and healing.
