I specialize in CBT for anxiety, perfectionism, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and related issues (such as body dysmorphia / BDD, skin picking, hoarding), and emotion dysregulation.
Do you find that difficult emotions lead you to avoid, procrastinate, or steer away from the things that matter most to you? As a clinical psychologist, I can offer another approach: flexibility, self-compassion, and moving towards your values even in the face of emotional distress. Together, we will identify unhelpful patterns that are not working for you and practice new ways of coping that will help you meet your goals. I use evidence-based treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

I regularly treat depression, anxiety, PTSD/CPTSD, phobias, OCD, hoarding disorder, bipolar disorder, sexual issues (queer/kink/SW-allied), and ADHD.
Choosing a new therapist can be intimidating, whether it’s your first time or you’ve been in therapy forever. I respect this and try to make the process of starting therapy one that feels as comfortable as possible from our first session. I believe the most important part of being human is our ability to empathize with others, and therapy should be a space where we can tell our story and truly feel heard, understood, and validated.

As an active therapist, I help individuals, couples, families, and children identify and transform the story that has been governing their life. It is my belief, that with the right support everyone has the innate capability to show up and transform their life. Past or present circumstances may have created pain or a belief of powerlessness, but these circumstances do not define you. You can reclaim your power and sense of authorship over your own life. In the words of Marianne Wiliamson, " Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure."

Many of us turn to therapy at a point or place in our lives where we can no longer deal with ourselves. Seeking support is a powerful first step. Do you want to feel more connected? Less resentful? Less conflicted and fulfilled within your relationships? Are you struggling with feelings of not being good enough? By working together, we will co-create new learning environments to generate deeper insights on the sources of distress, as well as practical skills to navigate life with greater ease and meaning.

“Behind your image, below your words, above your thoughts, the silence of another world waits. A world lives within you. No one else can bring you news of this inner world.” (John O'Donohue) As your therapist I’ll help you access this inner world so you begin living with more awareness, intention, meaning, and wonder. I’ll listen a lot for what’s unsaid. Rather than give advice, I’ll help you uncover within yourself the truest, most authentic questions and answers. In session you’ll bring whatever's on your mind and we’ll attend to it. Nothing is too insignificant. This is deep, long-term work about deep, long-term change.

Therapy is often a place of navigating change. You may be coping with a transitional period of your life, or you may be trying to make changes but don’t know where to start. You might start questioning who you are, where you’re going, and how you can possibly get there. Life gets overwhelming as everything seems to attack you all at once. Relationships never seem to work out. Productivity and self care is a never-ending balancing act. Anxiety and fear prevent you from becoming the best version of yourself. The things that have helped you survive or protected you from pain in the past may now be holding you back, or vice versa.

Hoarding Therapists
What is the most effective treatment for hoarding?
Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) has been well-studied in the treatment of hoarding. This type of therapy includes changing beliefs surrounding possessions, as well as learning how to discard items and reduce acquisitions. The hoarder may also gain much-needed organizational skills. Another useful therapy may be compassion-focused therapy, which can address emotion regulation and negative self-perception.
How long does therapy for hoarding take?
Although treatment can vary, most people demonstrate improvement after 23 sessions, with some showing improvement after just a few sessions. Researchers have developed a 26-session cognitive behavioral program. People who hoard may need “maintenance” sessions over the years if the problem arises repeatedly.
Are there medications for hoarding?
The more commonly-prescribed medications for hoarding are including antidepressants, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs). This can include drugs such as venlafaxine and paroxetine. And because hoarding disorder is related to obsessive-compulsive disorder, medications for OCD, such as clomipramine, may be effective for hoarding as well.
Can hoarding come back after treatment?
Hoarding is a chronic disorder and it can last throughout an individual’s lifetime. Regularly checking in with a psychotherapist can help manage symptoms long-term. A good therapist will help the person learn needed skills including decision-making, organization, and stress reduction. The patient will gain a better perspective and the need to cling to useless items will lessen.
