We all possess creativity, natural resilience, and hard-won life experience. Every one of us can use these tools to envision a path forward, even in difficult times. However, when we're struggling with mental health or substance abuse concerns, it can be very challenging to see that we still have these strengths. Depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction can reduce our ability to access these lifelines, and make it difficult to imagine that life could be different. In those moments, I partner with clients to help them clarify their current challenges, evoke natural strengths, bolster intrinsic motivation, and renew hope.
My style is warm and collaborative. I believe that people are the experts on themselves, their lives, and their goals. I aim to help people strengthen coping strategies, learn a few new ones, and reduce mental health symptoms. My approach is client centered and heavily informed by Motivational Interviewing and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy.
The decision to begin therapy is courageous. It takes bravery to contemplate making changes and to create a different way of living.
