Supervising since 2005, and a previous Director of Training with over 20 years of experience, I consider it a privilege to offer meaningful work for children, adolescents, adults, couples, parents, and families. I treat children, adolescents, couples and family in a variety of therapeutic means. I have used cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, EMDR, behavioral, and eclectic therapies in addition to others. I also have experience working with behavioral, mood, anxiety, conduct and other specialties. I appreciate diversity and love working with others of various cultures, abilities and races.

As human beings we learn, develop meaning, and create a sense of purpose through each other and the relationships we form. In the same spirit I believe the therapeutic process is driven by the relationship formed between the client and the therapist. This is why my approach in therapy is guided by the question - "How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their personal growth?" I strive to create an empathic, nonjudgmental atmosphere where you feel safe and empowered to work toward personal growth and creating lasting change; forming trust and leaning toward vulnerability.

I Welcome being able to help you with the challenges that are causing stress and concerns for you. I work with individuals, couple, and children. I can help you improve your parenting tools to decrease conflict. I can assist with tools to decrease anviety aboiut life challenges and transitions. I counsel individuals and couples going through the challenges of infertility and family planning choices. I am dedicated to offering support and guidance to find hope during this journey . I conduct required psychological assessment for Intended Parents, egg donors, and surrogates.

Karen (Kari) Fisher is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Illinois. She has earned her MSW in social work from Loyola University Chicago. In addition, she has an MA in School Leadership from Concordia University Chicago. Kari spent 28 years in the public school system working with ages 2 years to 22 years old, along with parents. Additional experiences include clinics and hospitals with multi-generational ages, as well as treatment with older mature adults.

My approach to counseling has been to build mutual trust with my clients, in order to help them identify their inner strengths, followed by them using those strengths to overcome life’s negative experiences.  I am passionate about working with minority clients because I understand the sensitive and uncomfortable nature that comes with asking for help. I enjoy collaboratively dismantling the expectations and pressures that clients carry to be strong and have it all together.

I take a holistic approach to clients. I work with clients using an integrated approach focusing on symptom management and working towards goals to help clients reach their full potential.
