My clients are usually the people everyone leans on but personally don't feel comfortable being vulnerable with others. They find it hard to express or even acknowledge their own feelings because they're taking care of others. My clients are strong but need help creating boundaries so they aren't used or abused anymore. They usually have a history of rough childhood experiences they don't feel safe talking about or, don't even remember. They may not consider their past experiences rough, just things that happened. I authored the book, "Mourning the Living: When the Loved One You've Lost is Still Here."
I have direct approach and won't sugarcoat your situation. We'll connect current behavior to past events so you can shed shame and live in the present. Your self-esteem will improve as you create boundaries and process growing up with unpredictable, unreliable or volatile caregivers. You learn to feel more comfortable with yourself.
It's exhausting being the rock for everyone else when you feel have no one to lean on when you need help. You don't have to be alone as you heal. My goal is to validate and normalize your feelings and be your cheerleader until you become your biggest fan. It's important that you feel better as fast as possible.
