We all experience times when life becomes overwhelming, leaving us feeling vulnerable and off-centered, sometimes leading to profound depression, grief, anxiety or the use of unhealthy coping strategies. Stressors include major life transitions, relational challenges (conflict, separation/divorce, domestic abuse), parenting or/caregiving responsibilities, health difficulties, social oppression/discrimination, and trauma as a child or adult. No matter how strong you may be, you don't have to go it alone. Everyone struggles from time to time, and many benefit from seeking help from an experienced, highly trained psychotherapist.
For over two decades I have worked as a researcher, and then as a tenured faculty member training graduate students to become psychotherapists, as well as teaching undergraduate psychology. I have worked with adults of all genders to overcome a wide range of issues using a combination of compassion-focused, cognitive behavioral and attachment-based therapy.
I am thrilled to have recently returned to work as a psychotherapist. I find collaborating with clients to change their life to be fulfilling and meaningful. Clients report that I am warm, supportive and knowledgeable. My work is rooted in human dignity, and is trauma-informed, neurodiversity affirming, and culturally sensitive.
