My name is Melissa Weidendorf and I have an LPCC. I specialize in treating trauma and stress related mental health concerns for adults. I work a lot with people in the queer community because this is my community, too. My approach is to create a container for people to explore their own "stuff".
I use a variety of approaches and work through a trauma lens that is holistic and relationally focused. EMDR trained, I also use IFS, CBT, DBT with exploration of your relationship to the food you eat, the information you take in, and how you see your connectedness to the earth and world around you. Diagnosis is often a distraction.
I became a therapist to be a different kind of therapist. As a kid, I was profoundly impacted by the mental health system in ways that continue to shape who I am today. Because of this, I always want to show up for people authentically, but more importantly in ways that move beyond diagnosis and our cultures fascination with labels and boxes.
