It takes a village to raise children and I am honored to be a resource for families during their journey. Whether your child is experiencing difficulties managing his or her emotions, has problems with impulsivity, is processing a traumatic event, or is lacking self esteem, there are strategies that can help. I utilize a person centered approach to counseling, meaning I strive to meet my clients where they are and encourage them to build on their natural abilities. I incorporate experiential techniques and cognitive behavioral skills into sessions to help my clients feel empowered to utilize these skills in their day to day life.
With additional training and a certificate in equine assisted growth and learning (EAGALA), I have experience in working with children, teens and parents who are experiencing difficulties with life challenges by utilizing this experiential therapy model with horses.
During sessions, clients, groups, or families, are given the time and space to independently or collaboratively work with and experience the horses. Within this safe place, one is able to explore thoughts, feelings, and reactions, increase self-acceptance, and practice new ways of interacting with others. Sessions are structured based on the client’s goals.
