I work well with adults who wish to deepen their relationships with primary partners, children, their family of origin, friends or colleagues. Many of my patients are seeking help with issues from early childhood, including trauma and child abuse. Others want to understand and function better in their marriages/partnerships. Some patients need to end their partnerships and I will work with them to do so in a collaborative manner. Adults in my practice may be coping with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, dissociative disorders and/or addictions. Together, we work to create insight into these issues.
My background is in Attachment Theory and I work from a dynamic perspective. Many of my patients have a history of early trauma or abuse and benefit from the healing that occurs in a long term relationship. I practice in a large, collaborative group with psychiatrists and other therapists; this arrangement may benefit those who require medication management.
I enjoy working with people who are challenged to deepen their self-awareness. Insight oriented therapy allows for the time and space one needs to discover long-term patterns and displaced emotions. Research shows significant change occurs in the hard work of long-term therapy. I have great respect for those people who accept this challenge!
