My name is Melissa Averett. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor. I earned my Master Degree in Education Counseling at Southeastern Louisiana University in 2008. I’ve worked 4 years in a residential setting with woman recovering from addiction. I also worked 13 years providing outpatient counseling to adults for wide range of struggles, mental illness anxiety & depression. I help Clients that have experienced the trauma of divorce begin the healing and forgiveness process.
I work with young adults and adults in general. I help clients individually with relationship issues, past or childhood trauma, how to set healthy boundaries, communication skills, parenting struggles, anxiety, depression, how to cope with major life changes, infidelity, divorce, career, difficulty, self esteem, grief, and spiritual struggles if desired.
I believe that counseling for me is more of a calling that was birthed in my heart when I was a teenager and witness a peer and some family members struggling with mental health issues. One of my friends took her life. I felt powerless and wanted to learn how to help those struggle find hope and be empowered to make healthy changes in their life.
