I have been treating adults and teens with eating disorders, anxiety, addictions and mood disorders for over 15 years. My style can be described as warm and collaborative. I think it is important for therapists to be approachable and "real." My clients value direction and new ideas balanced with having a space to be seen and cared for as they are. I see therapy as a vehicle for people to find their own answers but I also value empirically supported techniques for helping clients feel better. I utilize humor and help clients set actionable goals so they can make measurable changes.
I primarily practice CBT and ACT but I believe the client/therapist relationship is the primary agent of healing. I also often find it helpful to draw from other techniques like DBT, Mindfulness and Buddhist Psychology.
Research shows that the best predictor of good client outcomes in therapy is not the training or orientation of the therapist, but the rapport between the client and the therapist.
