Megan T. Carlson, MA, LPCC, NCC, Counselor in Rio Rancho
Hello! I am a strengths-based therapist who loves working with children and families. I specialize in working with children and their parents. Parent-Child interaction and ADHD is my passion; I have been working with children and parents for the past 8 years. I have focused on school/home based treatment as an elementary counselor. My theoretical orientation is rooted in Experiential Play Therapy, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, and Brief Solution Focused Therapy. By using a child directed approach with parents, children are able to form close and secure relationships with others, understand and manage their feelings, and feel safe to learn and explore.
Are you a new parent and do not feel that you understand your baby, or you're suffering from postpartum depression? Maybe you have a child that doesn't listen to you and you are frustrated beyond belief! Or maybe your child has been angry, crying excessively, or has been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD.
That's okay...parenting is the hardest job in the world...and there is help! Together we can identify your strengths as a parent (everyone has a strength!) and tailor strategies to meet the needs of your child and family.
