You wouldn't think that finding the right counselor could be this difficult! Clients often describe me as "easy to talk to", down to earth and having a great sense of humor.
With over 26 years of direct clinical experience, I balance creating a safe, nonjudgmental, validating space to process feelings with learning new skills and perspectives to facilitate growth. I also have a gift in working with children. Through play therapy, I quickly engage, making the therapy experience meaningful and fun.
I also recently published a best-selling book, Self-Love Workbook for Women (2020) and Be Kind to Yourself: A 52 Week Workbook (2022).
I have specialized experience working with trauma, mood disorders, healthy relationships, eating disorders, sexual abuse, grief/loss, anxiety and children/adolescents. My training includes a background in neuroscience-informed care with mindfulness based approaches of DBT, ACT, and CBT. I also have been an EMDR provider for over 20 years.
While clinical expertise, skills, and wisdom are essential for therapy success, so too, is the right connection.
