We often focus so much on becoming who we think others need us to be that we lose sight of ourselves and our own needs. Allowing yourself to be okay with not being okay is an important first step toward change and self-care.
Our experiences and struggles may shape us, but they do not have to define us. At the end of each day, you still have the power to decide who you want to become. Start by focusing on small, achievable goals. Each step forward can create a sense of progress, purpose, and confidence.
I have worked with teenagers for a large amount of my career in school-based therapy as well as in private practice. I am accepting new patients from ages 13 through adulthood.
We all know that it is hard to reach out for help and this action should be more normalized in society. The first step is asking for help to accomplish internal acceptance.
