As a Certified Consultant of The Association For Applied Sport Psychology, my ideal client is the athlete looking to reduce performance anxiety, improve concentration, learn how to effectively set both short-term and long-term goals, increase/maintain motivation, build self-confidence, recover from injury and/or add more effective pre-training and pre-competition routines. I work with athletes as teens, college aged, and professional athletes. My background and specialization is in soccer, although I do work with many other sports and performance situations including tennis, golf, swimming, volleyball, baseball, and basketball.

However you have come to find yourself pursuing therapy, welcome. Being human beings on this earth is a complicated thing, it is a chaotic time to be living life, and you are worthy of finding some space for care and support as you navigate through how to be a human.

While a desire to find meaningful connection with self and others appears universal, the everyday experiences of life often hold quite the opposite. Trauma, betrayal, loss, addiction, big life changes (and we can go on and on), can contribute to a variety of mental health concerns, and perpetuate dynamics that are not life-giving. Such dynamics are hard to put into words, so you are left looking for a safe space to tell your story and gain more insight into what shaped you, what motivates you, and what supports patterns of thinking and behavior that no longer serve you.

I am accepting new couples and individuals. My work focuses on deepening how we tell stories about ourselves, as well as understanding and healing our relationships. Parenting, divorce, chronic illness, anxiety, shame, and relationship troubles are particularly good matches for me. Life can go sideways in all kinds of ways, and therapy can give you concrete tools and aha moments that can change everything. I have worked for over fifteen years in the mental health field, and love working with teens, adults, and couples. I welcome people from all backgrounds, and actively cultivate an atmosphere that welcomes diversity of all kinds.

I support families, couples and individuals nurture the capacity for honest self reflection, discovery, discernment and change. Beyond the initial reason for engaging in therapy, I often help people and their loved ones explore the underlying patterns in behaviors, relationships and life engagement that hinder growth, satisfaction and peace. Together we create an environment where you can safely address the situations, challenges, and often pain that brought you and your family to counseling while learning skills, tools, techniques and approaches to support you and your family outside of therapy.

We all know that life is full of messiness, but what if we didn’t have to hold it together. What if we didn’t show a version of ourselves or wear a facade. And what if we could be really honest about our experiences, thoughts, and feelings. Sometimes it’s hard to find places to allow our chaos, confusion and pain to come out of hiding and be seen. My hope is that you find comfort and safety to allow the mess to show up. I believe therapy offers us the invitation to do something different — to choose a new way. It can be an uncomfortable and powerful offer to be seen, known and heard for who you really are.

I offer a holistic, humanistic, and youth-centered approach to help young people who are impacted by mental and behavioral health concerns. Trauma impacts every area of our lives, often leaving us overwhelmed and exhausted in our attempt to restore what has been lost. Healing begins when we lean into the hurt; engaging our body, and patiently remaining in the spaces within us that need comfort, understanding, and care. In our sessions, we will work together to create containment for the present, healing for the past, and hope for the future. This means developing the skills and tools needed to begin processing what has created the fear, hurt, anger, and sadness in your life, and cultivate in it's place hope, wholeness, peace, and healing.

I enjoy working with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and concerns. Are you experiencing depression, anxiety, life stressors, work or relationship dissatisfaction, grief, the impact from trauma, trouble adjusting to life transitions or illness, sleep problems, OCD, phobias, substance use issues or some other problem? I want to help you reach your optimal health, which may include both mental and physical health goals. I know it can be difficult to share such personal experiences with a new person, so it’s important to me to create a trusting bond to work on your concerns.

I work best with clients who are struggling with their ethnic and cultural identities, particularly those with multiple ways of identifying. Specifically, how these conflicting identities may impact their relationships with family, friends, and romantic partners. Though culture is what I explore primarily, I also focus on intrapersonal exploration, including areas of personal and professional growth. In both instances, it is vital to identify the specific issues that are barriers to achieving what the client perceives as an ideal self. Setting several short-term goals to accomplish on the way until a long-term goal is achieved.

The path to healing is not one-size-fits-all or linear. Regardless of who you are, we're all out here just trying to be human. The decision to seek help is not an easy one, but my calling is to make the process feel safe, approachable, and welcomed. My goal is to be your mirror and witness to your story. I hope to create a collaborative and safe space to address your needs, achieve your goals, and bring peace and contentment to your whole self.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Seattle?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
