Are you seeking something bigger in your life, but you aren't sure how get there? Do you want to live a full, inspired, purposeful and magical life? Are you ready (or almost ready but feeling a little nervous) to dive in, to be vulnerable and to make some changes? Are you ready to embrace your inner child, to heal the parts of yourself that feel unloved or invisible? Do you love the mystical and wish there was a therapist out there that can talk about things that feel like only alternative and esoteric healers may be open to (including psychedelic and plant medicine experiences)? If yes, then we may be aligned to work together.

Counseling is an opportunity to be listened to, to be heard, and to be understood. These are essential human needs that often go unfulfilled in day-to-day life. When was the last time someone really focused on you—when you were valued by another person who helped you to reach your capabilities? I am a trained professional and fellow human being who respects and values the power of a healing relationship. My goal is to provide a safe, caring space where we can explore together your reasons for seeking counseling and to create an approach that best suits your needs.

Struggling with anxiety can be a deeply isolating experience. Constant worry, becoming easily overwhelmed, and trouble focusing intrudes into your present, making everyday situations difficult. Anxiety causes fear and persistent stress, leading you to want to avoid anything remotely challenging. These feelings are valid, and it's important to know that anxiety doesn't have to control your life. You deserve to find peace and move forward with ease and confidence.

Why can’t we give ourselves a break?! We bombard our thoughts, emotions, and feelings with constant criticism and self-doubt. It’s too much to handle. Seriously! Aren’t you tired of feeling shitty – hating that it takes everything you have just to get out of bed some mornings? Don’t you want to feel alive and find purpose? Yearning for more, but not sure how to get there… Creating a self-esteem boost. Going after the better job we’re more than qualified to handle. Knowing how to walk away from relationships and situations that hurt us. It’s time to learn how to truly love and accept yourself. Time to quiet the inner critic.

I am passionate about working with pre-teens, teens and their parents and have enjoyed learning from and with them through my career as a therapist and as a school psychologist. This is a complicated time. Our young people are struggling with a multitude of stressors that lead to their need for additional supports such as therapy to guide them through their meaningful, developing years. I have over 30 years of experience working with young people and families. I started my career as an educator for students with emotional needs which inspired me to pursue a doctorate in clinical psychology.

You may be experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, or ADHD, and are feeling like you just can’t catch a break. You’re overwhelmed, constantly on edge, and making it through each day is like running a marathon that you were unable to train for. Dealing with all of this inside of you makes you feel so alone, believing that no one understands how you’re feeling. I work best with those of you who are experiencing work-related stress and relationship issues, as a result of feeling down, swamped, stressed out, or too scattered. What you want to get from therapy is understanding and solid solutions for getting back to your "normal" self.

Has your world been turned upside down after learning of your partner's secret romantic or sexual experiences? Do you feel furious, devastated, numb and confused all at the same time? One moment you feel love and the next extreme anger, one moment you're screaming and the next you're crying, one moment you're determined to leave and the next wondering if you can forgive? Or perhaps you've been dealing with this for a while and you feel stuck; you still can't trust or forgive, can't stop thinking about what happened, and worry about it happening again? I understand how you feel and am so deeply sorry that you're going through this.

Life is meant to include fun, exploration, and positive self-development, especially for teens and young adults. But unaddressed trauma can get in the way, leading instead to anxiety, depression, traumatic stress, and more. I specialize in helping young people who need support in dealing with complex trauma, also known as C-PTSD, and related struggles. Many troubled youths end up dealing with child protective services, foster placements, the courts, and related systems which can label them as the problem. No one should be identified by their trauma or past. You are a vibrant and valuable person just ready to break through.

Emotions are the spice of life. Sometimes life is too spicy! Life giving you heartburn (like anxiety or depression)? Therapy is kind of like an antacid, it helps you regulate the spice, and soothes you as soon as it kicks in. My role as your therapist is to help you understand what medicine you need to administer yourself in order to feel better. Getting to the root of emotional issues can give you lasting relief. I love working with all clients, but I am especially touched by those who are dedicated to empowering themselves in therapy.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
