I specialize in couple relationships because a couple's relationship can have a "ripple" effect on their children, their jobs, and their community. I use Emotionally Focused Therapy developed by Sue Johnson and Imago Relationships Therapy developed by Harvil Hendricks to facilitate a more connected couple relationship.

When you are feeling distressed in your most important relationships, you cannot be your most creative or productive self. We are social beings who need to feel emotionally supported and connected. Therapy helps us develop internal support that in turn helps us develop interpersonal supporters.

I work with couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy developed by Sue Johnson. We focus on the "cycle", which is both a pattern of most arguments and an underlying pattern of feelings. We get to the feelings to help partners understand what they are really trying to say to each other. Once the emotions are understood, defenses come down and communication gets easier and more organic.
