You’re feel like you've lost your spark. Maybe you feel exhausted from worrying about your relationship all the time or you're tired of getting stuck in the same relationship over and over again. You are drained from pleasing everyone around you and neglecting your own needs along the way. Through a collaborative relationship, I can help you process old trauma (with an emphasis on how it's impacting you today), better manage your anxiety, and cultivate the relationships you so deeply desire. As we build a safe partnership, you will find your own courage and make the changes you're looking for.

I am so excited to start your counseling journey with you! I understand how this can feel like an overwhelming and scary process to start. It helps to have a person to talk through the good and the not-so-good moments we experience. The emotions and challenges we face can be hard to navigate on our own, especially if we don’t know the first steps in how to navigate them! You don’t have to face them on your own. My hope is that together we can create a safe and supportive environment where you can explore, process and grow within. Together, we can create goals and uncover skills to be able to adapt to whatever life throws your way.

You want to live the truth and fullness of who you are, but somehow you question your worthiness and struggle to find your authentic voice. It seems your key relationships or life circumstances encourage you to deny, hide, or diminish who you are. Perfectionism, people pleasing, performing, and the need to control have taken over your life, and the stress is causing pain and dis-ease. Often you feel anxious, overwhelmed, and burdened by life’s demands. Or you’re depressed and disconnected from yourself and others or angry and out of control, numbing to get by. Let me help you regain your center and move forward, authentically.

Hey there, it's nice to meet you. If you are on this page, pat yourself on the back because you have taken the hardest step in your therapy journey, the first step. If you ever catch yourself using words like "shouldn't" "can't" or "never" when you think about your feelings, or maybe you often find yourself putting others' needs above your own. Perhaps you're stuck in a cycle of anxiety, constantly worrying about the future to the point where you can't sleep at night. If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone. I'm super passionate about helping folks who are struggling with those unhelpful thought patterns.

CaLm DoWn: Has anyone ever told you this before? I know, it really gets under my skin, too. Do I really need therapy? What's the point of sitting on a couch and talking with a stranger about my problems? I'm way too busy to be speaking with this guy for an hour anyway - - All of us have difficult moments in our lives that lead us to seek out therapy. Sadness can feel like it will never end. Anger is felt in our head, but we may feel judged by others for expressing it. If only there was a button we could press that would make us feel happiness. Though that magic button may not exist, we can work to create a new path together.

I'm passionate about helping kids, teens, and young adults conquer anxiety and related issues, so they can reclaim control over their lives. There's something truly special about seeing someone's true self shine through after it's been hidden by anxiety. As a mental health professional, my goal is to provide practical tools based on solid evidence to help people overcome their mental health challenges and live their lives freely. I believe therapy can be a powerful space where people can express themselves, become stronger, and achieve their goals.

I want to get to know you, wherever you'd like to start. Together, we can explore ways to increase your ability to manage and cope and find more happiness and calmness. I've got 30 years of experience helping people navigate through the impact of traumatic situations and serious grief and loss, including sexual assault, domestic violence, abusive childhoods, chronic illness, and tragic death. I understand the crushing weight of hopelessness and thoughts that things will never be better or even different. I know that things can and do change and I strongly believe that we are not simply what happened to us.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
