"The individual is like a garden to be tended, not a machine to be repaired". I practice Motivational Interviewing; this is a collaborative conversation to strengthen a person's own motivation for change. I hold a few principles that govern the work. First, I will focus on you being heard and believed, Second, be kind. Third, teach and demonstrate empathy and compassion and be helpful with your internal conflict... I practice being in the here and now with individual, couple and group work.

I work from a perspective that focuses on joining you in the present and, at the same time, putting your current experiences and perspectives in context by exploring how your personal history currently impacts your life. I'm happy to meet with most adults, couples, families, and kids as well as adolescents (just remember that no matter the age of your child, there will probably be some family therapy). I take a laid back approach, but I'm serious about your health. Please get in touch and let's see if I'm a good fit for you.

I have developed strong evidence-based therapeutic skills in Acceptance and Commitment and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Treatment and Structural Family Therapy. My intention as a therapist is to create an environment that is supportive, positive, and in which the client has both freedom of expression and freedom from judgment. My work is grounded in the principles of mindfulness, and utilizes meditation, cognitive behavioral strategies and biofeedback techniques. My approach to psychotherapy is practical: by addressing our patterns of thought and behavior we impact how we think, react and feel. Even small changes in these daily habits can improve wellness and bring clarity to concerns, goals, and ideas for more creative, sustainable approaches to living.

Over the years, I’ve worked with people in many different contexts—clinical practice, leadership roles, and teaching. One thing I’ve seen time and again is that even small shifts in perspective and behavior can make a real difference. Learning how the brain responds to stress, applying mindfulness in a practical way, or stepping back from unhelpful thought patterns are all strategies that can help navigate challenges with more clarity and flexibility.

I believe that the most important part of therapy is the relationship I have with each client. In order to build and strengthen the relationship, I prioritize creating a trusting and fun environment where children feel safe and comfortable expressing all parts of themselves. I value meeting each child where they are at and what they bring to our space with one another.

Counseling is a process, not an end goal; and it’s a process by which challenges can be defined, addressed, and worked on. It’s a process that brings a therapist and a client into safe and confidential relationship built on trust and authenticity. The counselor encourages strength and establishes hope for real change through connection and exploration. We consider choices, challenges, and triumphs together, recognizing that while difficult, change is the vehicle we sometimes need to reach our destination or desired goal.

Most people don’t start therapy because they’re curious—they start because something isn’t working anymore. Maybe anxiety has begun to spill into daily life, a relationship feels strained or confusing, a life transition has left you feeling unsteady, or past experiences and trauma are having too much influence on the present. Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, and it’s important that therapy feels like a place where you’re understood and can be yourself. In our work together, you’ll find me to be non-judgmental, collaborative, authentic, and approachable.

I help children, teens, and young adults manage anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum challenges, and the pressures of school or college while building practical skills, confidence, and resilience. Many families reach out when someone is bright but overwhelmed—struggling with focus, emotional regulation, friendships, or academic stress. I also work with college students and young adults navigating independence, life transitions, academic and career demands, and the mental health challenges that often arise during this stage.

What I know for sure is it can be hard to be human while it can also can be awe-inducing and wonderful. In my 26 years of practice I have come to find that what I enjoy the most in my work is supporting clients in sitting in this duality and finding peace in the presence of their lives. We can try so hard to run from our tough emotions in all kinds of adaptive human ways, but when we practice accepting them the deep healing can begin.

We try to take care of ourselves, connect with supportive people, and make good decisions - but being alive can be overwhelming at times - losses of health, loved ones, our sense of balance. When this happens it may bring up older unresolved issues or we may feel depressed or anxious. Sometimes it helps to just slow things down and look at what's going on with curiosity rather than judgment. It might be time to take a step back to look at what your goals are, what obstructs you enjoying your life more and getting satisfaction from your relationships, to look at creating new meaning from your experiences.

On paper, your life makes sense—inside, it's more complicated. You feel anxious, unsettled, or quietly unhappy. You find yourself wondering, “Why am I unhappy when everything looks okay?” or “Why do I feel anxious when nothing is technically wrong?” Perhaps life has shifted through parenting, relationships, or other transitions, leaving you asking, “Who am I now?” You’re not looking for a quick fix, but a long-term therapeutic relationship to help you understand yourself more deeply and keep showing up as life continues to change. My work is with teens and adults who want depth, reflection, and a consistent therapeutic relationship.
