Couseling is a journey that starts with accepting where you are and finding a way to the other side of the challenge. Using a strength based approach we start with the resources you do have on board. Then through a variety of tools we discover what is geeting in the way of finding the peace and hope you are looking for. As a therapist I am aware that we are complex people that often need a safe place to sort things out and make meaning of life. . I am able to accept most forms of insurance including Mainecare.

I see you scrolling, checking out all these profiles. Bit overwhelming huh? How do you choose? Who is right? Will they judge you? The cool thing is that it's so trendy to have a therapist; weren't you aware? That's why it's so hard to find one these days! But, it is still kind of scary to take the plunge. That's not how it's supposed to be you know; when you enter my office, my one and only goal is to help you feel accepted just how you are, no matter what you're bringing through the door. Kids making you crazy? Partner on your last nerve? Memories or old trauma preventing your from feeling like you can move forward? I can help.

Counseling has varied meaning and is a personal and individual process between a therapist and client. I don't list treatment orientation or theories here as my philosophy has always been, "All people need to be listened to and supported. No two people present with the same issues and deserve unconditional positive regard." Our society, at times, loses sight to the importance of encouragement and kindness. I will work hard to bring about feelings of confidence and life meaning for all that I work with. I believe in the personal worth of all individuals and that we all have the capacity to overcome harship, pain and despair.

I am currently accepting new clients for in person and telehealth. I have been working as a strength-based counselor for the past 22 years. Through building a therapeutic relationship, we can address stressors and concerns in your life and focus on setting goals that will decrease anxiety, and have the potential to improve the overall quality of your life. I believe in self-care and ultimately achieving a sense of pride and self-esteem. I will work with you to recognize your individual strengths, set boundaries when needed, and use communication skills to assert needs to friends, family, and co-workers.

Consider what it would be like to live without self-doubt and less worry. Consider enjoying a moment for the experience instead of re-visiting experiences over and over in your mind by allowing your thoughts to spin stories that often begin with "what if . . ." or "I should have . . ." The role of a therapist is not to be in the middle of troubles and is not about giving advice or telling someone what to do. However, many people feel that once they have a trusted "neutral" person to speak their stories to then they have begun the process of healing.

Now more than ever we are experiencing change that we never have seen within our lifetime. This change can create anxiety, feelings of isolation and depressive moods. School and work closures changed many of the ways that our families once were. My goal is to help you navigate and to thrive in these difficult times. Whether it's assisting families in becoming more able to cope with the current stressful situations involved in being together more, assisting teachers, law enforcement and other first responders in coping with the stresses

I am a clinical social worker trained to work with children, adolescents and families. I am licensed in both the state of CT and ME. I provide individual and family therapy and value working from a holistic perspective. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process that should reflect the unique needs and strengths of each individual and family. There is no one size fits all approach to healing and self-improvement. Throughout the therapeutic process we will work on developing the coping skills necessary to manage the complex and many times overwhelming emotions and stress brought on by the transitions and challenges in life.

I'm looking at the prompt above my type screen that gives me the questions to think about when filling out this section and it says to imagine my ideal client. What are their issues, their needs, their goals? What do they want and why? I look at that and I think what are their issues? Their issues are simple; their issues are the complexities of life and the many different scenarios and experiences that are thrown their way, often times with no warning and no direction on how to navigate their way through it. Because the reality is--we HAVE to go through it. One way or another we have to get to the other side. Our NEED is to survive, and our goal is to get to the other side in ONE PIECE. That is all we want right? To get through this life in one piece. Mostly happy, mostly put together, mostly content, and confident that we can tackle challenges and upheavals in the most gracious way we can.

I am not accepting new clients at this time, I am supervising a clinical intern with openings. There is a way through. You don’t have to keep running from the present, sitting in the past or fixating on the future. You can be here now. Our work together can help orient the change process so that it is aligned with your values. I have been working with women, couples and families for the past decade. I bring authenticity, integrity and passion to the therapeutic relationship. It is possible to move from trauma, attachment wounds, addiction, disordered eating and anxiety towards resiliency, compassion, connection, hope and healing.

My PhD research was extensively in trauma and ADHD . I use the Strength-based theory that emphasizes people's self-determination and strengths. I work on assessing the whole person. I assess for their learning style as I believe this to be helpful with how a treatment is implemented. Following are other therapies I implement: CBT, TF-CBT, DBT for adults and adolescents. I work with couples, adolescents, and adults. I have worked with addictive disorders as well. I am not seeing children at this time. It is too difficult using just teleheath. .

I specialize in working with adults and adolescents struggling with ADHD and executive function challenges.
Let's work together to achieve what you really want in life! Coaching provides skills, structure and support in reaching personal goals. Unlike traditional therapy, the main focus of coaching is in the here and now: what behaviors would you like to change? Why is this change important to you? What steps can you take to move towards this goal?

ADHD Therapists
Some children and adults with ADHD find it difficult to concentrate on tasks at school or work and may daydream frequently. Children with ADHD may become disruptive, defiant, or have trouble getting along with parents, peers, or teachers. Children who struggle with hyperactivity and impulsivity, in particular, often have behavioral challenges that can be difficult for adults to manage. Adults, on the other hand, may be more likely to report feeling restless or fidgety; if they struggle with impulsivity, they may make rash decisions that adversely affect their life. For both children and adults, executive functioning (planning, emotional regulation, and decision-making) is often affected as well. Many children and adults display either hyperactive or inattentive symptoms of ADHD, but it’s also possible for both sets of symptoms to exist together, in what is typically called combined type ADHD.

If you're looking for a Windham ADHD therapist, these professionals provide ADHD therapy and counseling in Windham.
