I am here to partner with you as you explore your substance and/or alcohol use. Change can be difficult, but often necessary. We use substances and/or alcohol to fill missing pieces of ourselves. I will work with you to address and understand how use impacts your life. Use can bring unwanted emotions (shame, guilt, fear) and consequences, but yet, still be difficult to look at. We can work together to determine what you feel you are missing from your life and ways to accomplish your goals.

If you've made it this far and you're reading this, you must be a Warrior. Really. Having Substance Use Disorder (SUD), or loving someone who has SUD, is not for the weak at heart. I liken it's reach to a tornado, an EF5 tornado actually. But here's the thing; You and I working together - we are to SUD what FEMA is to a tornado. Together, we can pick up the wreckage, organize it, decide what parts you want to keep, which ones you want to fix, and where to start fresh. You are not alone. In fact, 1 in 3 American families are struggling with SUD in the home. 22 Million Americans are in long-term recovery. All of them needed help too.
We are in the midst of a new normal that is a difficult, scary time. I am offering virtual sessions that will offer you the ability to access therapy, from the safety of where you are. Let’s talk. Individuals and couples that come work with me experience compassion and understanding. I use an eclectic and collaborative approach to make changes and create a more fulfilling life, mostly young adults, women, adults, and couples, experiencing symptoms from diagnoses such as anxiety and depression, as well as difficulties in relationships, life changes, and diet culture.
I am a seasoned clinican with over thirty years expericence in the field. I seek to create a comfortable, professional, and safe environment. My style is personal, informal, and direct. I endeavor to use humor, when appropriate, to put clients at ease, and provide perspective in order to move our work forward. My orientation is psychodynamic though I rely heavily on cognitive behavioral approaches because they have been shown to be effective and because the concepts can be readily understood.
**Please note that my practice is full at this time.** I specialize in working with high school age teens and adult women, using warmth and humor to build authentic connection. If anxiety and sadness are interfering with your life and relationships, you're battling an intrusive inner critic, or having a hard time finding your voice or direction, I can help. A supportive, non-biased therapeutic relationship is a major key in achieving positive change!
Offering free initial consultation. Finding the right therapist may seem overwhelming but taking the time to find the"best fit" for you is important. I offer a free phone or face to face consultation so that you have the opportunity to "try on" the therapist and hopefully get "a fit" that is right for you. I work primarily with adults, seniors, and couples on issues ranging from anxiety, depression, work and relational stress, and other problems in living. I view each client as being unique and work to find solutions that are "tailored" to your needs.
I work with individuals, couples, and families. My approach to therapy is family and systems based, but I also see teens and adults individually. I specialize in assisting parents experiencing severe family conflict following the adoption of children, with oppositional / defiant youth, and with youth who have engaged in problem sexual behaviors.
I view therapy as a collaboration and individuals through a strength’s based lens- you are the expert of your experience. I firmly believe in a client’s ability to determine their direction in life and find intuitive answers within themselves. We will work together to identify & address your core set of values in order to determine treatment goals. My role is to provide support, share my expertise, and encourage a client to take action moving towards wholeness, values, and clarity. I am here to create a safe space for you to explore and work with whatever concerns are leading you to seek therapy.
I enjoy working with teenagers, young adults, adults, and families who are navigating life transitions. I also enjoy working with people who are trying to figure out and achieve both short and long term goals in their life. I often work with people who have problems in school, with friend groups, family issues, or with the current state of affairs in the world which can be hard to process.

***As of 3/1/22 I am not accepting new clients until further notice. I believe that people's emotional health is based upon a variety of factors including their biological make-up, the environment, relationships, and events from their upbringing. People develop beliefs to make their way in the world, and apply these beliefs as they function in their present day to day lives. Problems may result when beliefs that were once useful no longer make sense. Through therapy, it is my job to help people bring these beliefs into consciousness, so that they may then be modified to better fit the present.
**Not currently accepting new clients** Many clients I work with carry tremendous stress and anxiety that is rooted in trauma. My clients often feel stuck and need to know what kind of work will create positive changes in their lives. They may need to learn new skills that will help them have more control over their own thoughts, feelings and behaviors. An ideal client is open to the healing process, is motivated to find new positive ways of thinking and is striving to make his or her reactions to their stresses more productive. I offer individual counseling sessions depending on their needs.
It’s hard to believe that life could be so fundamentally altered in such a short time but that is the new reality of the Covid-19 pandemic. Finding your footing again can present a challenge that may increase feelings of anxiety, depression, fear and loss. It may intensify relationship conflicts or reinforce past traumas. It may be hard to imagine that you could ever feel free of uncertainty or safe again. As a professional with 20 years of practice treating trauma and other mental health conditions, I can provide the guidance and support to help you make the changes needed to move through this turbulent period.
