I have had the opportunity to work for 43 years with Individual adults and adolescents, couples, families, and groups.
As a Gestalt trained therapist I use what is called the Cycle of Experience to expose what might be creating struggles and influencing complications in contact with yourself and others. We find sensations and thoughts which we have pushed down and we create new ones and then practice making contact with others reducing shame and increasing confidence.

I work with individuals facing anxiety, trauma, and emotional overwhelm who want deeper healing beyond symptom relief. Many come after talk therapy falls short. Using art and expressive therapies, we help release stored emotions, process experiences, and reconnect with their authentic self.

I have experience working with underprivileged adolescents, college students, disadvantaged families, foster care & adoption, the LGBTQ+ population, poly/CNM/ENM relationships, substance abuse, sex therapy and pre/marital therapy.
No one said life will be easy. As a matter of fact, life can be quite difficult and the pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps mentality causes more harm than good. My job is not to tell you how to live your life or to dole out advice, but to help you navigate how YOU want to live your life. My belief is that you, the client, are the expert of your life. Change is scary but necessary for progression and growth. If you're ready to take a stand for your mental health, I am ready to walk with you!

My experience as a therapist spans two decades, initially working with adolescents, then military families and teachers. I use CBT/CBT-Insomnia techniques and a family systems approach. I build genuine connections with people, appreciate a good sense of humor, and refrain from sugarcoating the situation.

I'm here to help you navigate challenges like anxiety, depression, relationships, and transitions with compassion and practical tools.
Life’s challenges don’t end when we grow up. In a world where we are constantly bombarded with messages about who, how, and what we should be, the pressure to measure up often feels overwhelming and it can be tough to know where to turn for help. For over a decade, I have worked with teens, adults and parents who are learning how to navigate life with self-awareness, skill, and confidence. I listen deeply, reading between the lines to understand what’s really going on, and help clients carve out their own unique path forward.

FAQ - About Couples Therapy
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
