I treat anxiety and depression, trauma, substance use disorders, and chronic health conditions and chronic pain.
I have been a student of psychology, the mind, and human behavior for over 30 years. My patients and clients have been my primary teachers, sharing with me the hard-won wisdom of their direct experiences. Helping them navigate their challenges has enriched my own life and taught me a range of strategies and perspectives that may also help you. I do not treat disorders, I treat whole individuals. I help some clients to identify and remove themselves from patterns that keep them stuck and that keep them from living as fully as they would wish. I help other clients learn to carry heavy burdens differently.

If you are struggling with anxiety or depression, having trouble flowing with life's many challenges or transitions, or suffer from chronic pain for example, this revolutionary approach provides profound, effective results.
I have been in the healing profession for 30+ years. Through my work as an energy psychotherapist over the past decade, I have witnessed dramatic changes in my clients lives. I use a variety of healing modalities, coupled with a traditional therapeutic approach. In my experience, energy work alone will often relieve or eliminate emotional or physical symptoms. Combining this with therapy provides us with an understanding of why we act in destructive ways, the opportunity to re-evaluate those decisions and provide tools necessary to break free from old, limiting beliefs. The desired outcome is to create positive lasting change.

For medical issues including cancer, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, infertility, IBS, skin conditions, migraines (and many more)?
All hypnosis. All the time. That's all I do. I'm not a psychotherapist, I don't diagnose you and I don't "treat" you. I do, however, help you eliminate negative patterns, conquer obstacles, and take more control in your life through hypnosis and self-hypnosis.

I support teens and adults navigating trauma, anxiety, chronic pain, and/or illness, and relationship challenges.
You might not have a clear way to explain why you’re reaching out, only a sense that something feels unresolved. Maybe you feel anxious, stuck, or caught in familiar patterns in your relationships or reactions. You may have been thinking about therapy for a while before taking this step. What you’re looking for isn’t quick advice or a label, but a space to better understand yourself and what’s getting in the way. You’re here because you’re ready for something to shift.

My ideal client is someone who’s been strong for everyone else and now needs space to focus on themselves. They may feel stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or lost in a life transition. They’re looking for clarity, tools that work, and a therapist who gets it—no judgment, no fluff. Their goal is to feel more in control, more confident, and more at peace. They want real change, not just coping. Together, we work to unpack the tough stuff with honesty, compassion, and a touch of humor when it helps.

Chronic Pain Therapists
How does chronic pain therapy work?
Engaging with a psychotherapist to help treat chronic pain does not mean that one’s pain is all in their head. Therapy for chronic-pain patients has been shown to benefit both the mind and the body, targeting physical symptoms and increasing daily functioning. In other words, for many, addressing their emotional health through therapy affects their physical health. A therapist can help a client challenge unhelpful thoughts about pain and develop new ways to respond to it, such as distraction or calming breathing techniques. Studies have found that therapy can be as effective as surgery for certain cases of chronic pain and many doctors recommend trying psychotherapy in advance of considering invasive surgery.

What are the most effective treatment options for chronic pain?
Stress, anxiety, depression, catastrophizing, ruminating, lack of activity, and social withdrawal all make chronic pain worse. Addressing these issues, research shows, can help people gain control over their pain symptoms. Therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, biofeedback, and mindfulness-based stress reduction, along with greater pain-management education, have been found to help people reduce fear and disability.

Are there new treatments for chronic pain?
Many cases of chronic pain, particularly those involving back pain, remain medically unexplained. But there is evidence that changes in the brain or nervous system are caused by previous physical ailments such as tissue damage; in such cases, the brain may continue to send out pain signals despite the physical cause having healed. To aid patients under these circumstances, a recently developed treatment known as pain reprocessing therapy (PRT) is designed to help the brain “unlearn” this response. A PRT practitioner helps individuals to reduce the “threat value” of their ongoing pain signals until they can reappraise them as less threatening and fear-inducing. They also help an individual to develop new emotional regulation skills.

How long does therapy for chronic pain take?
There is no set timeline for recovery from chronic pain, especially as there may be a range of physical and psychological causes for any individual’s discomfort, but most patients should expect to see a therapist for a number of weeks or months, typically spanning at least 12 sessions. Studies of pain reprocessing therapy found that many individuals’ experience of pain lessened in eight sessions over four weeks.
