I’m here to guide you home to yourself. Coming into a civilization that values hyper-production and individualistic ways of being I became enlightened by the deep rooted connection and harmony the mind, body, and soul were craving. The suppression and imbalance of our innate human parts has created exhaustion and burnout that instills conditioning of shame, guilt and fear. My mission is to provide a meaningful safe space to shed these burdens, connect with the healing allies of nature and your own inner wisdom to remember how to be in alignment with your whole embodied Self and the world around you

Therapy is not one size fits all. I believe everyone's journey is unique to them, and as such, no two therapy sessions look alike. My goal is to help people step back and look at what might be going on in their world and help them find ways to change and improve that. I would describe myself as laid back, easy going, but also direct and straightforward with my clients. I find humor and connecting with people goes a long way and I do my best to incorporate that into all my sessions. If you're not feeling comfortable or safe, I can't expect you to trust me with your thoughts/goals/needs and wants. I look forward to meeting you!

I use an existential and narrative perspective to give clients supportive counseling through grief, bereavement, ambiguous loss (a loss in life that is not death related, such as divorce, relationships, work-related, etc.) and moral injury.
Some things happen in life that are beyond our control, but I believe that we, as individuals, get to shape what the story looks like. Whether it's our own life changes, the illness or death of someone we care about, or another challenge in our lives that comes to us, how we craft the story for ourselves and move forward comes from within. In the fog of stress, we can get very lost. I think many, if not most people will benefit from counseling in some way, and often requires only short-term support. My non-diagnostic counseling practice is set up for people who need some assistance with moving forward in their life.

I approach therapy from a strong person centered perspective. I believe that all persons have the ability to change. I utilize an active listening, non-judgmental approach that allows clients to utilize their own native ability to solve their own problems. I believe that every person has a strong drive to expand and grow and to achieve their fullest potential. This potential can be frustrated by many of the challenges presented by life but it can never be eliminated. As I see therapy, it is a vehicle for a person to realize and release that innate potential.

I've spent two decades helping people untangle worry, sadness, trauma, and the big life changes that sneak up on all of us. The heart of it is always the same: two people talking honestly, one human to another. I work with people struggling with relationship issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction, self-doubt, and challenging life transitions. If you're feeling powerless or like your inner critic is in control, we can work together to uncover what's blocking you from finding meaning, joy, and purpose.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
