My top areas are ADHD, relationships, and trauma- but of course, I cover a wide variety of areas.
The therapeutic relationship indicates how successful therapy will be. I work hard to build a safe space, and a trusting connection with you- so that we can have the comfortability to work through some of the more difficult stuff. I’ve been told a few times that I’ve been the first therapist someone has been able to trust! Maybe I can be the same for you.

I celebrate diversity including adhd/autism, queerness, race and love styles.
Pajama Forward Therapist here! If white knuckling, self shaming, and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps worked, you’d be “cured” a billion If white knuckling, self shaming, and pulling yourself up by your bootstraps worked, you’d be “cured” a billion times over. It doesn’t. At least not for me or people whose brains are different. Our minds race and it feels impossible to turn off and rest. Sometimes we use substances or other behaviors in a harmful way just to get through the day. There’s more to life out there. A more peaceful and meaningful life is possible. We need to go deeper and get to the root of things. I’ll go with you.

Hi, I’m Elle (pronounced like the letter L). I’m a human and a therapist and, like you, I’m probably browsing PsychologyToday profiles in the middle of the night. Why? Because I just about never know what to write here. I’m also somehow not a mind reader, I can’t predict the future, and I don’t hold the secrets to the universe, even if your favorite therapist on TV can do all that and more.

LCSW/LADC, person in recovery and with lived experience. Specialities include: Bipolar, Schizophrenia, Addiction, Anger Management. The bulk of my work has been done with people in or coming out of institutions (hospitals, incarceration), on the street or otherwise living in poverty. I do believe you are the master of your own path but I will also hold you accountable when your behaviors or choices don't align with your character or the goals you have for yourself. I believe the trust and rapport you have with your clinician is the primary foundation for progress, so I always recommend a phone consultation to see if we mesh!

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
