I love supporting parents through this life change.
Searching for a therapist can be one of the most difficult parts of coping, healing, and self-empowerment, because it's the first thing you must do. You must force yourself out of your comfort zone and out of whatever routine you've had before, to take the initiative and embark on a new path. When we're at our best, stepping out of our comfort zones can be daunting; when we're feeling vulnerable, it can seem nearly impossible. No matter what prompted you to take this first step, I'd like to be there for your second.

I can also help parents that feel stuck, working on finding solutions to increase communication and connection.
** I am now available for in person and telehealth sessions** Sometimes life can be challenging. Kids don't always know how to manage difficult transitions or feelings by using their words. Instead, an unhappy or anxious child may present with behaviors that are upsetting. I can help discover underlying issues and guide young people in finding ways to better express what is on their minds.

Do you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or like you're repeating the same patterns despite your best efforts? Perhaps anxiety has become your constant companion, past experiences continue to shape your present, or you know there's more to life than simply getting through each day. Insight alone isn't enough for lasting change. That's why I integrate approaches that go beyond traditional talk therapy. I help clients explore not only the "why" behind their struggles but also help to create new patterns in the brain and nervous system that support healing, resilience, and the freedom to move beyond surviving and toward a life of greater joy.

We specialize in pregnancy and postpartum challenges, miscarriage and termination, infertility, traumatic birth, PMDD, empty nest, menopause, parenting and women’s health concerns.
Together, we’ll build insight into the patterns that shape how you think, feel and respond to stress. As you better understand yourself, you’ll start to see why certain situations feel so hard and how you tend to show up when they do. From there, we’ll practice new tools and healthier ways of coping so you can respond with more calm, clarity, and confidence.

Most people arrive at therapy because there is something they want to change about the way things are right now. Together, we will identify what your goals are, what is important to you, and what barriers are stopping you from moving in that direction. We will then collaboratively work to orient the compass of your life in a direction that aligns towards self-fulfillment and steady ground. My practice is a trauma-informed environment where safety and trust are paramount to fostering change and growth.

What I know for sure is it can be hard to be human while it can also can be awe-inducing and wonderful. In my 26 years of practice I have come to find that what I enjoy the most in my work is supporting clients in sitting in this duality and finding peace in the presence of their lives. We can try so hard to run from our tough emotions in all kinds of adaptive human ways, but when we practice accepting them the deep healing can begin.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.

When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.

How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
