The stories we tend to hold about ourselves can shape our views about the world and our place in it. I am here to help you identify those unconscious beliefs you have about yourself and examine how these beliefs might be holding you back. Often when you are struggling it can feel like you are your own worst enemy. My goal is to help you better understand and accept yourself so that you can begin to work with your brain rather than continuing to fight against it.

Are you a woman struggling with the complexities of biological, environmental, societal and relational pressures? Or, are you having difficulty with the demands of life and feeling physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted? You are not alone in this. As women, we live in a society that constantly implies that who we are isn’t enough. But, change is possible. Over the years I’ve developed a specialty working with women who are pregnant or have recently given birth, are struggling with depression, anxiety or self-esteem, or who have a history of experiencing childhood trauma. Oftentimes, my clients identify with all of these.

I help individuals learn to turn toward themselves with compassion rather than shame or fear. Many people feel "different" in ways that others don’t always understand, which can lead to overwhelm, low self esteem, or a sense of isolation. I am committed to supporting those who have felt misunderstood, unseen, or out of place. In our work together, we’ll clarify your values and what matters most to you, strengthening the skills and confidence needed to move toward the life you want. You are welcome here exactly as you are.

I believe that healing happens when people feel truly seen and understood. I strive to create a space that is safe, compassionate, and free of judgment—where clients can bring their whole selves, including the parts that feel heavy or hidden. I hold the conviction that our mental and physical health cannot be separated; the body carries our stress, our stories, and our resilience, and tending to both mind and body allows us to move toward balance and wholeness.

Women's Issues Therapists
How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
