Finding the right therapeutic fit can feel overwhelming, and making the decision to face painful experiences is often even harder. You do not have to navigate grief, trauma, or life’s challenges alone. Trauma can impact both the mind and body in ways we may not fully recognize. I value the mind-body connection and often incorporate somatic approaches into my work to help clients feel more deeply into their experience with their emotions. If you’re grieving, feeling stuck, disconnected, overwhelmed, or struggling to find meaning, I’d love to connect and see if we may be a good fit.

There is wisdom in the ways we adapt to our environments, but they do not always serve us in the present moment. My aim is to help people identify their adaptive patterns and view them with compassion, while also learning what to hold and what to let go. As a neurobiological informed therapist, I aim to help people move from judgement, shame and isolation to curiosity, acceptance and connection.

The very act of considering counseling is taking a courageous step toward change. At one time or another, most of us have faced life events that can throw us off and where we end up feeling stuck. Does this sound familiar? This is where therapy can assist. Talking with a professional counselor can bring clarity, perspective, and hope. The counseling process represents a collaboration between client and therapist. We will formulate and implement action plans, set goals, and assess progress throughout the process.

Behavioral: Anger management; Domestic Abuse, High-Risk behaviors related to Substance Use, and Self-Esteem.
Addiction can lead us down a path we thought we would never walk. Sometimes we get lost and need gentle guidance to find our way back to live the life we were meant to live. Like the caterpillar that transforms into a butterfly You too can “ Emerge a New You!.” Addiction can take many forms besides drugs & alcohol, cigarettes & gambling. Sometimes what seems to be an addiction is a habit that needs to be broken. Together we can determine the difference & explore solutions. Additional examples: eating disorders, work, shopping, shoplifting, self mutilation, risky behaviors, video games, relationships, etc. You are NOT alone.

I consider myself a generalist and have worked with those experiencing depression, anxiety, the after-effects of trauma, behavior problems, domestic violence, and anger issues among others.
I am a seasoned clinican with over thirty years expericence in the field. I seek to create a comfortable, professional, and safe environment. My style is personal, informal, and direct. I endeavor to use humor, when appropriate, to put clients at ease, and provide perspective in order to move our work forward. My orientation is psychodynamic though I rely heavily on cognitive behavioral approaches because they have been shown to be effective and because the concepts can be readily understood.

My ideal client is someone curious about their inner world, even if ambivalent about change. They may struggle with anxiety, depression, or repeating life patterns, and need both practical coping skills and insight into the beliefs that keep them stuck. Their goals often include breaking cycles, improving relationships, and building confidence in making intentional choices.Motivation helps, but I also value clients willing to be challenged when resistance arises.Homework and practice are essential, extending progress beyond sessions. Together we examine problematic patterns and explore the shadow, aiming for authentic, lasting change

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
