Effective therapy begins with a solid, trusting relationship between you and your therapist. I create a warm, open environment where we can build trust and address your concerns. Through therapy, you will learn new ways of responding to obstacles (internal and external) that are currently contributing to your distress and preventing you from creating the life and relationships you desire. I have extensive experience working with clients with anxiety, depression, trauma, social and relational issues, as well as substance abuse, and have worked with clients in a variety of settings, including inpatient, outpatient, and residential.

I work with people of all Faiths yet as a Catholic Christian I am sensitive to the spiritual needs of those individuals seeking a Christian Counselor who supports the role of one's Faith in relation to wellness and inner healing.
I believe in the uniqueness of each human being and that all people have inherent strengths. I know when a person seeks counseling it is because he/she is feeling overwhelmed or stuck. In the safety of a professional helping relationship you will address those areas as well as recognize and utilize your own strengths so you can move forward to resolve your problems. I work with people on a variety of difficult life issues and I meet each person where they are at. In addition to helping individual adults, I work with parents, families and children ages 7-18.

I enjoy working with patients that want to move beyond the cookie cutter structure of many types of therapies in order to increase insight, improve adaptive coping, increasing holistic health, and are motivated for change. My sessions tend to be more conversational and dynamic, where the client isn't just talking to a grey wall and I'm not monologuing at them. Although I provide some structure, I allow for the flexibility that life demands and as additional stressor may arise. I have extensively worked with male individuals that have experienced multiple types of trauma, including combat, sexual, and childhood.

Everyone needs support at some time during their lives and trying to find the right match in a counselor can be a daunting task. Whether you are someone who is ready to address past experiences that continue to impact you; a college student trying to navigate the pressures of school, changing relationships, and responsibilities; a parent trying to do everything for everyone else and feeling like it is impossible; someone adjusting to one of life's major transitions; or maybe you just feel overwhelmed with life in general right now, I would be honored to help.

I believe therapy should meet you exactly where you are. Sometimes that means creating space to process grief or trauma, sometimes it’s finding practical coping strategies for daily stressors, and other times it’s simply having someone to listen without judgment.

I also offer faith-based therapy rooted in Catholic/ Christian understanding of the human person for those seeking it.
It is very easy to "click" the various modalities and specialties one has when creating a profile. I want to ensure you that I have formal training in several modalities including IFS, EMDR and CBT to assist clients. I also utilize the Gottman Method when working with couples. Most importantly, however, is the strong therapeutic alliance.

My ideal clients are people navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, or serious clinical mental health issues and are feeling stuck, stressed, lost, or uncertain. They may wrestle with questions of meaning, identity, or purpose and want practical tools for coping, along with a space to explore the bigger questions of life. Their goal isn’t just to “get by”—they want to feel more connected, confident, and capable of creating a life that truly matters.

If you are looking for a therapist who offers direct advice, specific answers, and expertise in all areas of mental health and emotional wellness, you should continue swiping for a different provider. On the other hand, if you would like to be a part of a therapeutic partnership wherein the clinician listens, validates, asks thoughtful questions, and assists with a helpful yet subtly challenging approach we might be a good match. I approach therapy with the strong belief that each client is an expert for their own life and circumstance. My role, is to ask the right questions that will yield solutions or helpful guidance.

At present, my practice is limited to men and women in the law enforcement community and their families. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is being used in many medical facilities today and I am against the practice. I am making a statement: I don’t believe AI and the collection of voice recordings in a medical / psychotherapy office should happen. Be assured that I do not and I will not record therapy sessions. Treatment sessions are sacrosanct to me and therefore confidential.

I have been involved in this field since 2001 and especially enjoy working with families and loved ones of addicted and alcoholic persons. Sometimes our loved ones keep drinking and drugging no matter what we do, so we need to find new ways to deal with the situation (because this isn't working!). Let's get together, pinpoint the needs and find encouragement in a new mode of thinking!

Christian Therapists
Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?
Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same belief system or background to be able to work effectively together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience in tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of culture, religion, and other factors on each individual.

Why is it important to find a therapist sensitive to Christian values?
Each person brings a unique history and background to therapy, making it important to find a licensed therapist who is trained in a broad range of treatment modalities. In addition, for people who grow up in a faith tradition that strongly influences the way they conduct their everyday life, finding a therapist who understands or shares that background can ease the disclosure of sensitive information and facilitate the therapeutic process. For some clients, a Christian therapist is likely to incorporate faith-based principles into emotional healing techniques.

How do I recognize an effective Christian therapist?
Christian therapists are licensed mental health professionals—holding a master’s or doctoral degree in medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy—who are also familiar with Christian beliefs and values. They have an understanding of the importance that Christian principles play in the lives of individuals and families, which allows them to be especially sensitive to the kinds of struggles that can affect daily functioning. Like all effective therapists, a Christian therapist will have undergone training and certification in a variety of treatment modalities that help people through crises and enable them to master the challenges of life.

Why might someone feel comfortable with a Christian therapist?
While training, qualifications, and experience are always important, research has long established that a strong alliance between client and therapist is a major contributor to therapeutic success. An alliance is likely to be strengthened with a therapist who not only is responsive to questions and concerns but also shares a client’s faith and values. Sensitivity to spiritual matters as well as to everyday struggles can provide a welcome sense of safety and contribute to the bond between client and therapist, both of which support the therapeutic process.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Christian therapists?
The directory of Christian therapists includes professionals who have shared their background in their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose this information, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Christian clients, regardless of their own background or religious affiliation.
