I’m an eccentric, depth‑oriented therapist who blends radical honesty with a warm, grounded presence. I work with the unconscious, the body, and the patterns you’ve carried for years—often without realizing it. My approach is deeply trauma‑informed and somatically attuned, helping you understand how your story lives in both mind and body. If you’ve ever felt “too much” or misunderstood, this is a space where your complexity is welcomed and your truth can finally breathe.

As a team of therapists we work with individuals, families, couples, adults and children.
At the Partnership for Trauma Recovery we believe that true healing happens when we find the courage to look at the root of the long standing patterns and difficulties we have. While learning to cope with the daily burdens of these patterns is an important skill, our philosophy is that simply learning to manage only places a bandage on the problem. In order to truly heal we have to look deeper into ourselves and try to determine where these patterns developed.

Life can feel really heavy at times. We can feel pulled in so many directions: by the people who rely on us, the expectations we place on ourselves, and the responsibilities that come with school, work, family, and simply being human. It’s easy to slip into survival mode and push our own needs to the side. Therapy can be a place to set all of that down for a moment, breathe, and sort through what’s going on inside. Sometimes having someone walk beside you through those ups and downs can make all the difference.

In order to build and strengthen the relationship, I prioritize creating a trusting and fun environment where children feel safe and comfortable expressing all parts of themselves.
I focus on getting to know children for who they are and encouraging their strengths while we further explore who they would like to become from a whole-person-centered approach. I incorporate many mindfulness techniques within my practice to build awareness of self and of others, and to connect the mind and the body.

I am a "regular guy" kind of therapist. I don't wear a tie, but I have been known to sport a fedora or other stylish hat and am accompanied by two noisy corgis. I bring 36 years of experience to the counseling relationship. I strive to empower my clients to make positive changes in their lives. My ideal clients are those individuals who want to work from a strengths-based perspective to improve their quality of life. I don't like to see people stuck in a "sick" or "victim" role because that is the narrative that was given to them early in life. Let's work together to write your own story, one with the happiest ending yet to come!

With my extensive experience and training in Expressive Therapies, I specialize in Art Therapy and Play Therapy to treat a variety of emotional and behavioral issues with children.
I primarily work with children, but I also understand the importance of working with the support system and family of a child, as they are a part of their world in many ways. Play is a language and developmental necessity for children, and creative expression can sometimes speak louder than any words.

FAQ - About Child Therapy
When does a child need to see a therapist?
Children naturally experience emotional ups and downs. Sometimes, though, they need support from a professional. A child may benefit from therapy if their emotions or behaviors change significantly within a short period of time. For example, if a child usually spends time with friends after school but begins isolating in their room, further inquiry is warranted. Other areas for concern include altered sleep patterns, lack of appetite, intense anger, irritability, or hopelessness, or developmental regression in young children (bedwetting, thumb-sucking).

What can a child therapist help with?
A therapist can help with any difficult experience a child may encounter growing up, including learning problems or anxiety related to school, relationship challenges with friends or parents, bullying, intense emotions or phobias, divorce and family dynamics, or the death of a pet or loved one. A therapist can help children process their experience and develop coping skills in an age-appropriate way

What therapy types are most suitable for children?
Children can benefit from different forms of therapy, including family therapy, parent-child interaction therapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and exposure therapy, depending on their condition. Play therapy is a great option for younger children who may not be able to fully articulate their feelings. In this approach, kids play with toys and games while a therapist observes and helps the child express their emotions and develop coping skills.

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?
Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?
A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
