I love working with youth age 9 and over, and adults as well, but my specialty is really adolescent youth. I offer non-mental health services for youth too - see accelerateyouth.org I treat people with a variety of problems recognizing that often their struggle and symptoms reflect the fact they want to live their life more in line with their values but are struggling to do so. I may help a person with past trauma or current stressors, but I also focus on helping them experience fulfillment by finding a way to make their life and the way they live reflect their true values.

I'm Skilled at Helping With Anxiety/worry, depression, trauma, navigating transitions and change, parent and child interaction, parent and adolescent communication and/or conflict, partner and familial relationship issues, adjustment issues in children, self esteem and identity issues in adolescents.
We are human. I believe we all encounter circumstances--internal, external and relational--in which we feel stuck, overwhelmed, helpless or unsure of how to move forward. As a therapist, I am committed to helping individual adults, children and youth, couples and families identify patterns of thoughts, behavior and interactions that inhibit fulfillment. I work together with people to identify goals and to evaluate our work in therapy. Ideally, therapy is a temporary commitment, a place to bolster internal resources and identify more effective tools and ways of interacting and coping.

I am non-binary, polyamorous, and pansexual and love providing support to people in the LGBTQ+ community. I love working with children and teenagers, but have no specific age restrictions on my practice. I'm seeking clients who need to explore their emotions, experiences, and behaviors in an expressive way. Talking only gets us so far, whereas in my experience, use of the Expressive Arts (dance, drama, music, art, and writing) has an ability to get at the deeper stuff.

Have you ever experienced issues around your sex life, sexuality, or gender? These issues can feel awkward, lonely, and uncomfortable. Sexuality, sex, and gender are integral aspects of life that on the whole are ignored and misunderstood by society. Perhaps you want to learn about the desire difference between you and your partner, or you want to process through trauma that you have experienced in the past, or you would like to explore the world of BDSM and kink but have been too nervous to have a conversation with any of your friends. Regardless of your situation, your sexuality and gender needs are valid.

Hello and Welcome! Currently offering Telehealth meetings; I specialize in techniques that focus on the health of the relationships between people. I utilize Relational and Narrative Therapy; where you are the expert of your life and together we reframe difficult or troubling experiences. The practice of relational therapy views the mental health of an individual as often being based on, or at least greatly affected by the quality of relationships (family, romantic, friendship, colleagues, neighbors, etc.) in a person's life.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
