Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW

I understand myself in this role as a fellow traveler along the road who has devoted particular time and attention to learning the skills necessary to hold the kind of space that most effectively evokes the healing, release, and the profound wisdom that we all carry within. I work primarily with Internal Family Systems therapy. I believe this to be a particularly appropriate approach for our times as it is inherently a consent-based practice that moves precisely at the pace we are each ready for, and also creates space for touching the burdens we inherited intergenerationally/ancestrally.

I specialize in EMDR, IFS (Internal Family Systems), mindfulness, transpersonal, and positive psychology.
Are you ready to change your world? Do you need to recover from trauma or anxiety, or are you looking to improve your life with a "wholistic" approach? When trauma, intense emotions, relationships, and multiple diagnoses overlap, therapy needs to see more than symptoms. I work with adults and couples navigating complex trauma, BPD, co-occurring conditions, disordered eating, substance misuse, and relationship challenges. Many come feeling stuck in patterns that continue despite insight or previous therapy. My holistic approach explores the suffering and chaos beneath these patterns through the lens of the Whole Me(c). Through collaboration, exploration, and empowerment, we build stability, strengthen relationships, deepen self-understanding, and create meaningful change.

My path into this work didn't come from one place—it came from a deep curiosity about what truly helps people change. I hold a B.A. in Psychology and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology, and for more than two decades I have supported individuals navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction recovery, life transitions, women's issues, and the complex challenges that arise in the middle passages of life. Throughout my career, I have been committed to helping people move beyond survival, reconnect with themselves, and create lives aligned with their deepest values.

As a clinical art therapist, I believe in the power of healing through an integrative, holistic approach that addresses the mind, body, and the spirit. Every person has within them the innate ability to heal and transform their lives. Often, it requires a compassionate approach with therapeutic interventions that help an individual to discover that innate wisdom within. As a trauma informed therapist, using nonverbal modalities allows for deeper levels of access to what is unconscious or unprocessed within and stored in the bodies memory from our life experiences.

I help people who have anxiety, overwhelm, or stressful relationships find clarity and serenity. In 2014, after years of talk therapy and recovery work, I became frustrated by the lack of progress in a few key areas. I decided to go deeper and I combined "parts work" with a mediation facilitation process. The healing I experienced was astounding. I researched other practitioners who were working at these deep levels, began studying evidence based techniques with Sarah Peyton, and I implemented these life changing models into my work. A past client posted: "Sara’s way of providing help creates peace in the battle zone of my brain."

It is for individuals looking for somatic work, mindfulness, gestalt, transpersonal, depth psychology and energy work (if this is jargon I would love to have the opportunity to explain these concepts; they are accessible
I am a gentle, patient, and empathic presence for empaths, caregivers, therapists, and HSPs working through anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and conflict. Together we will figure this out, at a pace that feels safe to you. Over the years I have cultivated a holistic approach that is caring and inclusive, addressing root causes rather than symptoms. We can and will unlearn painful habits of mind taught by the unhealthy systems we are all formed and harmed by. When you ask and are ready, we look at your personal story, the weight of collective grief, and your ancestral story and its potential legacy of inherited trauma.

As an EMDR Certified Therapist, I offer weekly sessions and specialize in half-day therapy retreats. Clients have shared that they feel “lighter,” “more present,” and “empowered” after completing a therapy retreat. Therapy retreats provide a space for the holistic healing of mind, body, and spirit. We take our time to meet the moment, listen inward, and discover what is needed. This format of therapy is structured, collaborative, and phase-oriented. With more time and space, we are able to heal psychological wounds in fewer days instead of over years in traditional therapy, accelerating relief from your symptoms.

Greetings! I bring over a decade of clinical experience to our sessions as well as certifications in yoga teacher training and reiki. I’m trained in EMDR, TF-CBT, and positive parenting—which I’ve found to be immensely helpful for many individuals in processing trauma, anxiety-based blockages, and generational trauma. I have additional expertise in treating PTSD, couples, body positivity, relationship stressors, healing from abuse, OCD, and personality disorders. I also care deeply about systemic oppression and advocacy, the spiritual elements of healing, and maximizing the mind-body connection with somatic practices.

How does transpersonal therapy work?
Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?
Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?
Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?
There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
