These are very stressful times, and life can be so very hard with different challenges that we face over the years. Adults deserve a place where they feel welcomed to sort through their feelings, whether it be related to past trauma or current challenges. Families need a place to work through their struggles and not feel that they are alone in dealing with problems that can arise while raising children, to create healthy communication, and healing in their family. Children and teens may feel like coming to therapy means they are different, so its important that everyone who comes to therapy feels welcome and heard.
In the past 30 years, I worked as a substance abuse specialist in inpatient, outpatient and IOP settings. I have also worked as a psychiatric social worker, DCF (child welfare), working with teens, families, foster and pre-adoptive parents. I completed the Training for Adoption Competency course at UCONN, and I have extensive experience in juvenile matters.
When life throws its challenges and struggles within and outside of family life, it can be a very isolating experience, which can increases stress, anxiety and depression. You deserve a safe and nurturing place to sort out your experiences, struggles and strengths so you can heal and grow and live your best life.
