I utilize integrative and empirically based models (interpersonal/emotionally-focused/ psychodynamic) to help you make more conscious decisions about your life and relationships.
I’m a licensed psychologist offering therapy to adults and couples. You may be feeling overwhelmed with stress, grief or unhappy with your relationships. I believe that our early relationship/s profoundly impact our view of self and expectations of others. Life is also full of stress (job, marital/divorce, parenting, illness, trauma, loss, infertility, hormonal changes) that can impact our feelings of satisfaction and joy. I am warm, supportive and will work with you to identify your goals for treatment. I am passionate about my work and feel privileged to witness the growth and recovery that therapy provides.

Things have a way of not working out the way they we thought they would. The stories of our lives begin in the families we are given with all of their foibles and experiences. Pages that become chapters of pain, trauma or loss can engulf the one that feels trapped in the narrative. After a plot twist of epic proportions, I left a 16-year career in the intelligence community and began a new chapter. I’ve had to confront the sources, rewrite the narrative, consult the author and find myself in the pages. The refinement process can be a horrific one but in the truth, freedom is found. Together, we can find healing.

I am trained in psychodynamic therapy which is very insight oriented.
Current daytime appointments available Wednesday (1 PM) and Friday (2 PM) as of 12/30/2025 — Are you at the point where something needs to change. Are you dreading work everyday? Getting into arguments with your partner about the smallest things? So frustrated with the kids that you’re sitting in the car longer and longer every day when you come home from work? If you’re still reading I’m going to ask you to pause for a moment and breathe in as you count to four … hold your breath as you count to seven … now exhale as you count to eight.

A question I regularly get is, "What is Therapy?" "What does it do?" If you ask 100 therapists, you may get as many different answers. My take on therapy is that it is a space where you can lay out your problems and difficulties in a way that they begin to feel more manageable, then develop insights and new perspectives on how to address these problems. Essentially, it provides a new way to look at your challenges and the knowledge and insight to overcome them.

Navigating the various emotional and social challenges of life can be frustrating and lonely. You may appear fine to the outside world, but underneath feel sensitive to home/school/work environments. Some people find they are using a lot of mental energy fighting off the insensitive words/actions of others, unspoken societal pressures, or general worries. Over time, this can wear down your self-worth and impact your relationships. It can make all the difference when you find a space where you feel understood and are free to express your genuine emotions.

I believe that working with the whole person - body, mind, spirit- is essential for finding stability and peace. The ideal client for my practice is someone wanting a more natural, holistic and functional medicine approach to mental health. Improving brain health is foundational to processing the past, learning and accessing coping skills. In our work together we will discuss the role of metabolic health and underlying conditions to mental health symptoms, and will rely on cognitive, behavioral, somatic and relational therapies to facilitate mental health support and healing.

You're likely here because something in your life has stopped working the way it used to — a compulsion you can't argue yourself out of, a fear that's shrunk your world, an urge to pull or pick at your own skin or hair, a body that won't cooperate no matter what you try, or a relationship pattern that keeps repeating no matter how hard you try to do it differently. You've probably already tried to think your way out of it. That rarely works, because these patterns didn't start as choices — they started as solutions that got stuck running long after they stopped helping.

I use techniques from cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and mindfulness-based therapies.
Individual therapy is a way for people to explore their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgmental and healing therapeutic setting. You may aspire toward growth and development, may seek to learn ways to cope with ongoing stressors, or may be searching for ways to achieve mind-body connectedness. I consider myself to be eclectic in my approach to psychotherapy, and will often use components from different treatment modalities based on your needs. My goal is to help you feel a sense of empowerment over your psychological well-being.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
