Sleep or Insomnia Therapists in Towson, MD
I love supporting those with OCD, anxiety, insomnia, neurodivergence, trouble making decisions, autism, or body-focused repetitive behaviors.
Imagine your mental health as a garden, where each plant represents a part of who you are. For overthinkers, especially those struggling with OCD and anxiety, the garden can feel overwhelmed by persistent weeds of worry, repetitive thoughts, and restless nights. These challenges can make it hard for the vibrant parts of you to grow and thrive. As a nonbinary, queer art therapist, artist, and outdoor walk-and-talk therapy enthusiast, I specialize in guiding all ages with my extensive training in art therapy, exposure and response prevention, somatic regulation, and parts work to help your garden heal and grow!

I believe that psychotherapy is most effective when it is strengths-based: identifying and nourishing each individual's inner strengths in order to help them heal and develop new capacities for growth. Using mindfulness and body-aware techniques, as well as gentle mental exploration and traditional psychotherapy, I see my work as guiding individuals to unlock their own innate capacity to heal. I am also certified as a Nature-Informed Therapist and work to integrate the healing properties of the natural world into mental health treatment.

Finding the right therapist can be a daunting task. I had challenges finding
the right therapist for me as I was recovering from serious medical
diagnoses that unexpectantly derailed my life. I never found that
therapist who understood how lost I was during those times. Once I
healed and found my path, I vowed to become a therapist for others that I
needed years ago. I believe in the power of connection, resilience, and the
inherent capacity for growth and healing.
My approach is rooted in curiosity and possibilities, emphasizing empathy,
authenticity, and the recognition of each person's strengths and potential.

As a therapist, I provide that support by helping people process and work through their issues. My focus is helping people with anxiety, panic, and perfectionistic behaviors, though I frequently work with people dealing with depression, relationships, grief, life transitions, chronic stress, and existential issues.

You may be seeking therapy because of distressing symptoms, yet these often point to something deeper. Together, we will approach these symptoms as signals from parts of you that have been hurt, silenced, or hidden for safety. I recognize how past pain can show up as patterns in your daily life, especially when the experiences that shaped you haven't yet been fully explored. Our work is an opportunity for your full self to emerge in a safe environment. My hope is that genuine, new possibilities for your life begin to open up as a result of the time we spend together.

I help people find lasting relief through an integrative approach that combines talk therapy, EMDR, and LENS neurofeedback. Many of my clients come to me feeling stuck or discouraged after trying other approaches. I take time to understand your story, your needs, and what hasn’t worked — so we can find what does. Challenges like emotional stress, attention issues, or nervous system dysregulation often develop over time and may be shaped by trauma, health conditions, or injury.

“Life is hard.” This is a quote that I heard from my then 6-year-old niece. She was talking about the unfairness of having to room with her sister, but her words ring true no matter what age we are. Sometimes we start to feel weighed down by stress, anxiety, depression, or the expectations of others, among many other things. Sometimes we feel stuck and don’t know what to do. It can be hard to reach out for help, but there is no shame in it.

Sleep or Insomnia Therapists
How effective is treatment for insomnia?
The most effective treatments for insomnia are behavioral techniques that reduce anxiety, including anxiety about falling asleep, and allow the body’s natural cycles to be recalibrated. The most common treatment is cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), which researchers have found to be more useful than medication, with rates of success as high as 80 percent.
Are there specific medications for sleep problems?
There are many medications, both over-the-counter and prescription that treat sleep problems. Supplements such as melatonin are popular and may help, though there is little evidence that it is more effective than a placebo. Prescription medications such as zolpidem are sometimes prescribed.
Are there natural treatments for sleep problems?
There are many natural treatments for everyday sleep problems. Reducing blue-light emitting screens, setting a regular bedtime, regular exercise, reducing caffeine and nicotine consumption, and keeping the bedroom dark and cool at night are all lifestyle changes that can help those who struggle with sleep but may not reach the level of an insomnia diagnosis.
What’s the difference between having trouble falling asleep and insomnia?
Life events, stress, and anxiety can lead to sleepless nights for everyone from time to time. To be diagnosed with insomnia, a patient must experience trouble falling asleep, trouble remaining asleep, waking up too early, or non-restorative sleep at least three nights per week for at least one month. Sleep problems affect one-third to one-half of the population, while chronic insomnia affects about 10 to 15 percent of people.
