I use a variety of therapeutic approaches that includes CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic theories.
Therapy can be an intimidating process. How often have you pushed your mental health aside because life grew hectic; were told to “practice self-care” but aren’t sure what that entails; or been told to “just get over something” and you’re left feeling lost or overwhelmed? Being a human is challenging! We’re filled with complicated emotions that derive from our lived experiences, environment, family dynamics, personality, and genetics. My goal is to help you sort some of that out to relieve depression, anxiety, and interpersonal conflict.

Using a psychodynamic and IFS (Parts Work) approach, I provide therapy for individual adults, couples, and families. Patients learn to recognize patterns in their behaviors that are causing them discomfort. Through the therapeutic approach and the therapeutic relationship, patients begin to make meaning of their internal system thus enabling them to utilize new ways of coping with grief, transitions (newly married, divorce, raising children, new job, relocation), anxiety, and past trauma.

My therapeutic style includes elements of DBT, psychodynamic theories, & evidence-based mindfulness interventions.
I primarily work with couples to help them create deeper bonds and understanding of one another. I use Sue Johnson’s Attachment-Based Couples Therapy (EFT) as a guide for this work. I also use Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Level 2 trained) as needed. In my work with individuals, I believe I can be most helpful to those who suffer from anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, romantic relationship difficulties, and life adjustment issues.

I use a practical approach to the treatment of: trauma using EMDR; addictions using Motivational Interviewing; anxiety using psychodynamic approaches; and depression using logotherapy.
I am a business professional and psychotherapist. Most of my patients are busy business people who have issues that hold them back. I apply psychotherapy to help them practically improve lives. My clients have been very successful when they have worked at it. To succeed in therapy try new behaviors, disclose difficult experiences, and let go of old patterns of thinking and behaving. If you choose to call please be prepared to work to achieve results. You can expect mutual respect, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.

Life can present us with many different challenges. We are confronted with stress and negativity on a daily basis. At times it may feel too overwhelming to cope with it all. Perhaps you are seeking treatment to cope with a loss, to manage anxiety or mood swings, or are struggling with a difficult relationship. Therapy provides you with a safe, supportive and healing environment to explore your innermost thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement. I practice using a psychodynamic approach, also known as insight-oriented therapy. I also utilize other approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness.

I use a psychodynamic approach but draw from other approaches.
An experienced therapist, I work with adults of all ages. I create a compassionate atmosphere where you can feel accepted and understood. Therapy is a partnership and feedback is welcomed. First, I want to help you to feel better NOW. We develop skills to reduce symptoms and solve problems. The root of the issue is addressed to ensure lasting improvement. We are sculpted by life's experience, relationships, and emotional patterns that may no longer work. Change begins with awareness, followed by the support and skills to begin to do/feel differently. Positive change feels better then old patterns.

I tailor my therapeutic approach to best fit each individual client, primarily incorporating client-centered, psychodynamic , existential, and relational theoretical orientations.
Clients in therapy with me commonly describe a plaguing feeling that there must be a better way to get through life than burdened by so much stress. My approach to wellness can be captured by the quote: "Stress in life is a given; suffering doesn't have to be." My goal in our work together is to examine the unique stressors in your life and help you develop mindful, healthy ways to live with the challenges that inevitably come up in life so that they no longer get in the way of how you want to be living.

Developing a meaningful therapeutic connection is the foundation for learning how to improve one's quality of life, develop healthy and fulfilling relationships, and cope more effectively with life stressors. Through the therapeutic relationship, we will work together to identify underlying patterns of behaving, relating, and experiencing that may be contributing to conflict in your life.

Every client is different, and that's why I believe in employing an integrative approach drawing from behavioral, psychodynamic , existential, and and nature-informed therapy.
Are you struggling with symptoms of depression and anxiety? Having a tough time adjusting to a life transition? Navigating your gender or sexual identity? Could you fill an orchestra pit with all the therapists you've parted ways with because they weren't a good fit? Whatever the case you've come to the right place.

I combine a psychodynamic approach with interventions derived from mindfulness and focusing oriented therapy (FOT).
There are times in life when it is difficult to believe that we will ever reach our dreams, hopes, goals, or have the future for which we had hoped. We may be feeling stuck, lonely, and unable to develop or access our wisdom and strengths. Too often, challenging life situations or decisions made in the past tend to have a lasting effect on our lives. I believe that everyone has the capacity to grow, change and heal our relationships with ourselves, our significant others, and those around us.

Psychodynamic Therapists

Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?

Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.

How long does psychodynamic therapy last?

Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.

Does psychodynamic therapy work?

Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.

What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?

Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
