My practice is devoted to working with women who are experiencing challenges with self-esteem, perfectionism, shame, anxiety, depression, work-life balance, relationship difficulties, self-care, and parenting.
Congratulations on your decision to seek therapy. You have made a valuable decision to honor your inner needs and feelings. It is my belief that all individuals have a desire to live a meaningful and purposeful life, yet sometimes become "stuck" in unhealthy ways of thinking about themselves and their circumstances. My approach involves the integration of Afrocentric practices, Mindfulness-based practices, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. You know yourself best. So, therapy is viewed as a collaborative process where the client and I work together to discover solutions to life's challenges.

I specialize in helping women recovery from domestic violence, eating disorders and trauma.
You never learned how to set healthy boundaries, which has led to people-pleasing behavior, low self-esteem and difficulty having your needs met in relationships. Maybe you've coped with painful feelings with food, drugs or bad relationships. You deserve to be valued for who you are and not what you do for others. The opportunity to show up in your life as your true self can feel both exciting and terrifying. I offer a warm, safe environment to process painful feelings that may arise during this process. Together we can learn new ways to cope that will help you build a life that feels true to you.

I have a particular interest in supporting women around complex trauma, perinatal experiences, relationship stressors, and systemic, intersectional women ’s issues.
I believe therapy allows us to process life experiences and develop useful strategies to support growth. I work collaboratively and help clients use their own strengths and supports to heal, cultivate meaningful relationships, and develop emotional balance and self-awareness. I use a trauma-informed and attachment focused perspective along with EMDR, body-centered psychotherapy, parts work, cognitive-behavioral approaches, and expressive art techniques. I work with adults and youth who are experiencing challenges related to anxiety, childhood and recent trauma, relationship concerns, life-transitions, self esteem, and dissociation.

I enjoy working with men and women who are struggling with depression or anxiety and those desiring to work through life transitions or relational dynamics. I work specifically with women experiencing challenges in the postpartum period. I have a passion for working with couples to establish healthy marriages where spouses feel valued, heard, and understood by one another. As a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator I also enjoy working with couples in the pre-marital stage looking to establish a strong foundation. In order to attend to a client's overall wellbeing I often integrate my training in health, wellness and nutrition.

These groups are for women , especially those who have faith and spirituality, to understand if they are involved in the confusion and trauma of a toxic emotionally abusive relationship.
Find the freedom and confidence to discover your inner truth, your emotions, and your voice. Healing and becoming aligned with your true self is a life giving energetic and sacred experience that takes place within the safety and trust of the counseling relationship or in a confidential group of kindred spirits — often both. We must go deep to connect with the vital energy and core vitality that we were born with after life has brought pain, losses and various forms of trauma or abuse. Integrating my specialities of grief, and releasing trauma through the amazing modality of Brainspotting I've created my Soul of Healing program.

One 8:00 AM Opening Available. “There is a tendency to underestimate how intensely distressing and disabling loss usually is and for how long the distress, and often the disablement, commonly lasts…There is a tendency to suppose that a normal healthy person can and should get over a bereavement not only fairly rapidly but also completely. But, loss of a loved person is one of the most intensely painful experiences any human being can suffer.” John Bowlby, Loss, Sadness, and Depression

I am a queer woman , and often work with people who are LGBTQIA+, ethically nonmonogamous, and/or living in ways others may deem "unconventional.
“It wasn’t that bad. I should get over it.” Does that sound familiar? Many people shame themselves for being hurt by the past. Shame doesn’t stop the suffering, regardless of what caused that pain. I am a therapist committed to helping people overcome stressful or traumatic experiences so that they can live better lives. Working with me involves finding the root of the problem, like when your inner critic first took hold, and weeding it out. I primarily use EMDR for this, which allows people to process the trauma without having to give details about it.

Additionally, I specialize in helping women during the change and growth they experience during pregnancy/postpartum, including the struggles that may emerge when trying to conceive.
Do you feel like you are struggling to understand your child? Perhaps your child is struggling at home, school, or other social environments? I specialize in helping children find their voice to effectively communicate and help bridge the parent child relationship. Parenting doesn't come with an instruction manual and can often become overwhelming. Through our work together I can help build the confidence needed to navigate the difficult situations often faced by both children and parents today. I connect with children by using play therapy, expressive arts, and other developmentally appropriate interventions.

With a decade of experience in the mental health field, I've cultivated an approach that just might work for you. It's all about connection. Connection between therapist and client, connection between mind and body, connection between your authentic Self and all of the various ways in which you show up in the world. I have completed Internal Family Systems Level 1 training and love incorporating IFS into my work with clients. IFS is a holistic and evidence-based approach to healing.

I have extensive history working with individuals suffering from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders or with the family members who love them. I also love working with women struggling with anxiety, OCD, disordered eating, and depression. Through therapy I hope to open doors to new ideas and make life feel worth living. I put focus on establishing healthy boundaries and developing coping skills to deal with current life stressors, while examining the potential underlying issues and treating the whole person. I hope to help my clients reveal their true, authentic selves and harness their full potentials.

After 10+ years of professional training & experience, I've developed an expertise in women 's issues.
Do you need a space where you feel heard & understood? Do you feel disconnected from the person you were before...before kids, before marriage, before you took on the world? Are you a new mama or more "seasoned"? Are you a woman who wants to learn how to better manage your emotions? Many times, as women , we are expected to be the burden bearers for everyone in our lives while our cups are full; we are often expected to be superwomen while we suffer in silence. If this is you, let me help you empty some of the contents of your cup so that you can come back to a place where you feel connected to you.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
