Women's issues,
relationship
issues, depression, anxiety, infertility, adoption life-threatening/chronic illness are some of the concerns with which I can help.
When you choose a therapist you want to be sure to choose someone whom you know has the knowledge and range of experience to understand the issues with which you are dealing. You want to choose someone you will be comfortable walking with you, helping you as a guide to explore the path you are on, helping you to along the way explore the side-roads you may have missed. You also want someone who has the resources and experience to be able to give practical strategies and solutions when needed.

I am enthusiastic about helping clients that experience a range of issues including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, family/
relationship
issues, grief, and other concerns.
I have worked with individuals and families in a variety of treatment settings. My experience as a teacher, mentor, athletic coach, and Dean of Students has allowed me to distinguish the different developmental stages of children, particularly adolescent males. I have a dedicated interest in helping the youth to make constructive changes that allow them to reach goals that their confidence blocks them from obtaining. As a Practitioner working with families, I help clients make substantial changes that center around practical strategies and evidence-based practices that allow them to build strong, nourishing relationships.

Seeking to improve our
relationship
with ourselves and others can feel uncertain and overwhelming. As a therapist, I strive to remove barriers by providing an open, trusting, and nonjudgmental space where self-acceptance and healing can be fostered for individuals and partnerships. Difficulties such as life transitions,
relationship
challenges, trauma, or unexpected events can leave us feeling disconnected and isolated. Through the collaborative experience of therapy,
couples
, polycules, or triads can find renewed, deeper bonds and individuals can untangle the past, process the current, and grow through supportive change.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
