Hi, glad you are taking this step! In this ever-changing world, we all need some support. As an EMDR trained, trauma-informed, psychotherapist and board-approved clinical supervisor, I'm always looking to learn new ways of doing things, all while creating the space necessary for my clients to speak freely about their challenges, think through options, and celebrate any progress along their unique journey. Anxiety can make you feel like your brain will not stop. Overwhelm can leave you feeling paralyzed. Depression can feel all-encompassing. But it is possible to feel better. And you do not have to navigate this alone. If you find yourself over-thinking, feeling anxious, depleted or simply not the best version of yourself, please reach out. Together we'll explore what may be under the symptoms and move toward new ways of thinking, feeling and being; to healing. My passion is supporting people who are in helping roles of any kind (healthcare workers, teachers, caregivers, parents, etc) and find themselves struggling.

We could all benefit from an outside perspective during life's stressors. I am here to listen, support, and empower you on your journey to clarity and making meaning from your experiences. Seeking support is a courageous step, not a sign of weakness.  Especially during the chaos, it can certainly be painful to feel lost, overwhelmed, and unsure of where to turn whether personally, professionally, or both.  My approach co-creates a judgment-free space where you can explore your challenges, uncover your inner strengths, and gently cultivate hope and resilience.

My client centered approach focuses on the individual narrative, working to unpack challenges a person has had over time and working to increase self-awareness and self-acceptance. Whether it is constant fear of a missed deadline, an upcoming social interaction, struggling with overwhelming sensory information, or managing grief and loss, these different struggles can feel difficult to manage. I love working with clients who are keen to understand why their emotions feel complex, confusing, or why they struggle to fit into the norms of society.

Cognitive Processing (CPT) Therapists
How does cognitive processing therapy work?
A CPT therapist helps a client evaluate their thoughts about the trauma they experienced, focusing on maladaptive or self-blaming thoughts that can exacerbate symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, or depression. The therapist will work with a client to help them learn to challenge such thoughts and consider different perspectives. The therapist is also likely to ask a client to work on these techniques at home between meetings, such as writing an account of their trauma that can be read aloud during a future session.

What is cognitive processing therapy for PTSD?
Cognitive processing therapy (CPT) is a form of cognitive-behavioral therapy primarily used in the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) to treat individuals who experienced abuse or violence, who survived natural disasters, who were first responders to such incidents, or who otherwise experienced trauma.

How long does cognitive processing therapy last?
CPT is a short-term therapy. Whether conducted one-on-one or in a group, a complete set of CPT sessions typically includes 12 weekly sessions, along with tasks for clients to complete at home, although this can vary depending on a client’s needs or a therapist’s particular treatment plan. Sessions typically last 60 or 90 minutes.

How effective is cognitive processing therapy?
A large body of research supports the use of CPT to treat people experiencing PTSD, finding it to be effective among different age groups, either in one-on-one therapy sessions or in a group therapy environment. Research suggests that although the initial sessions may be difficult, clients tend to begin to feel positive progress after the first few sessions, and that the benefits tend to last well after the therapy ends.
