Welcome! I believe therapy works best when you feel seen, respected, and safe. I strive to create a supportive space where your lived experiences, identities, values, and cultural background are honored—not pathologized. Whether you’re navigating stress, trauma, identity exploration, relationships, or life transitions, you don’t have to do it alone. I approach therapy with cultural humility, meaning I see you as the expert on your own experience. I am committed to ongoing learning, self‑reflection, and ethical practice.

It is from this core relationship that a child, adolescent or young adult with self-esteem, anxiety, anger management, or other issues, can begin to feel comfortable and trust the process of therapy.
I am trained in a psychodynamic and relational approach that includes the use of play therapy, art, music, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness. I have spent the last 27 years working clinically with children and adolescents in school settings in Baltimore City, Montgomery County and Prince Georges County. I currently combine my work as a school counselor in a special education facility with private practice.

With over 30 years of experience to offer, I'm pleased to say that most of my clients have been referred by their friends who are or have been clients. When mutual respect develops, it ensures the trust and comfort needed to address and resolve most problems. I have always felt blessed and privileged to be a therapist and to sit with someone who is grappling with some of the most meaningful aspects of their lives. When you contact me, I'll be happy to honestly explore whether or not this will be a good therapeutic relationship.

It is magical thinking to keep doing the same thing over and over and expect a different outcome. Often this is what we do in our relationships. Therapy is like pushing a pause button on what isn’t working well–a pause to examine the thought patterns and behaviors that may be keeping us from a more satisfying life. Therapy is a unique way to search for a kinder way to view yourself and to build on that to improve your relationships. This means I meet you where you are and we collaboratively map a path forward.

Are you feeling anxious, depressed, or just unsettled? Maybe wondering if alcohol, substances, or addictive behaviors are contributing? Perhaps you're in early recovery and need support from someone who understands? Often we address our mental health while avoiding discussing alcohol, drugs. or other addictive behaviors. Or, we try to address addictive behaviors without really dealing with underlying issues which led to the addictive behaviors in the first place. The truth is we need to address both simultaneously in order to make real progress.

I have a relationship-driven approach to helping clients live happier, more fulfilling lives. I rely mainly on psychodynamic, humanistic and existential perspectives. I have experience helping clients process grief, loss and trauma; strengthen relationships; set boundaries; and achieve general life satisfaction. I work primarily with adult individuals, couples, families and groups. My work with couples is informed by training in the Gottman Method and Imago. For couples in which one partner is leaning out, considering divorce but not completely sure it's the best path, I offer Discernment Counseling.

I cn help people who are trying to manage their anxiety, or who have experienced trauma in their lives, or who are having difficulty in their relationships and are trying to figure out why. I also focus on helping you to accept aspects of yourself, even if the rest of the world doesn't always seem to accept you. I can help you to understand yourself better by exploring the past and present with you, to determine what does and does not work in your life, and to understand (and fully claim) aspects of your identity.

You're in a stressful job environment, such as big law, and are feeling overwhelmed by all that is being asked of you, both at work and home. Maybe you also have a history of trauma and still have lingering self-blame or sadness about it. Self-doubt, looping thoughts, and sleepless nights are becoming more and more common. You're falling apart while trying to hold everything together perfectly. You’re worried you will fail while everyone else seems to be doing fine. You can’t concentrate and are less productive. Your worrying and anxiety are getting in your way and you’re feeling crippled by the ordinary day.

Others are dealing with anger, anxiety, depression, or a loss of the motivation and confidence that once came naturally.
My approach is primarily psychodynamic. That means we work to understand how your history has shaped the patterns you're living with now, and we use that understanding to build something different. This isn't prescriptive or homework-driven therapy. It's exploratory, honest, and often takes the time it actually needs to take.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
