I work with clients from an attachment and
trauma
informed lens, which shifts the question from ‘what's wrong with you?’ to ‘what happened to you?’ During our sessions, we will identify your goals for therapy and use treatments that have been proven to help others with similar struggles.
Are there aspects of your life that you are unhappy with? Are you feeling anxious, struggling to follow your dreams or having difficulties in your relationships with your partner, children, friends or colleagues? If so, therapy can be helpful to you! Therapy is a space to discuss your struggles with a neutral person who is not a part of your family or your friend. In therapy, we will work together to better understand your struggles. We will focus on building new skills to help you navigate difficult emotions or situations. We will also explore how past issues may be impacting you in the present.

If you are new to therapy, reaching out for help is an act of courage and a demonstration of your inner strength and hope for a better tomorrow. If you are experienced with therapy, you have developed your lists of likes and dislikes based on your experiences in therapy. I know that therapy works from my own life's journey, and I have confidence therapy will work for you. Now the task is finding the right fit. I'll help you reflect deeply within to break habits and cycles of generational
trauma
that no longer serve you, to reconnect with yourself and live more mindfully.
You’re feeling overwhelmed with life’s struggles and want to feel heard, seen, and understood. Your identities and history of marginalization impact how you move through the world and can make living an authentic, fulfilling life seemingly impossible. Your unique lived experiences can leave you feeling misunderstood, alone, and plagued with worry. You might have trouble sleeping or concentrating, and you feel guilty, shameful, and irritable. Becoming your most empowered and confident self comes with challenges, and may come with isolation and other relationship changes.

My clients are smart, successful people who want to create change in their lives. Does your life look good on paper, but you don't feel happy or fulfilled? Experiencing mild to moderate anxiety or depression? Maybe, like many, you suffered
trauma
, now interfering with your quality of life. You want insight and action, process and results, to feel and perform better. Maybe you are the concerned parent of a child, seeking help for emotional or behavior problems. You want a trusted therapist for your child who will include you in their treatment, and who will provide you with information and realistic strategies you can use at home.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
