Hello! Thank you for visiting my page. I am a trauma therapist with a specialty in reproductive trauma and infertility, but I work with lots of presenting issues. My personal and professional experiences help to guide the work I do with clients, and I feel privileged to accompany you in this journey. I provide a safe place to process your emotions, talk about what is on your mind, and discovering how other aspects of your life, including your relationships, are impacted by your presenting issues today. When going through traumas, we tend to judge ourselves, so let's work together to help you to treat yourself with love and care.

As an EMDRIA certified therapist and EMDRIA approved consultant, I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to face your unhealed trauma .
What if I told you that you can stop having anxiety, intrusive thoughts or that pit in your stomach feeling? You might think, ‘Doesn’t everyone feel like this? This is just life, right?’ The answer is no! You don’t have to carry this yuck around with you anymore. Change is possible with EMDR therapy. We all have life experiences that impact us in minor and major ways that leave a lasting impression on us. Imagine a life where you have lessened anxiety or depression symptoms. You can have less inner conflict, better decision making, and enhanced self-control.

Are you plagued by loneliness? As a therapist who has treated trauma , attachment, religious trauma , recovery from emotionally immature parents, and much more, I have found that what is missing for most people in their healing journey is connection and community. We can come to therapy, take the right cocktail of medications, and still go home lonely and isolated. What if you were able to gather with a handful of people regularly with the intention of deeper connection and community formation? How might that change how you feel about your life and your future? I would bet that even thinking about this stirs in you an aspect of hope.

I believe in the human spirit and the potential in humans to learn, grow and change to better our lives and the lives around us. My ideal client is someone who finds themselves in patterns they want to become free from in order to be whether they are patterns that are deeply personal, relational, or familial. There may be issues of the past that include trauma , loss, adoption, family issues; it could be more recent issues around those same things or also gender identity, sexuality, race, being LGBTQ and wanting to create a family. You may be at a turning point in your life and want to find your own voice and knowing.

I'll help you reflect deeply within to break habits and cycles of generational trauma that no longer serve you, to reconnect with yourself and live more mindfully.
You’re feeling overwhelmed with life’s struggles and want to feel heard, seen, and understood. Your identities and history of marginalization impact how you move through the world and can make living an authentic, fulfilling life seemingly impossible. Your unique lived experiences can leave you feeling misunderstood, alone, and plagued with worry. You might have trouble sleeping or concentrating, and you feel guilty, shameful, and irritable. Becoming your most empowered and confident self comes with challenges, and may come with isolation and other relationship changes.

Building on your strengths, we will work together towards an outcome of added joy, aliveness and connection to self and others.

I work with clients from an attachment and trauma informed lens, which shifts the question from ‘what's wrong with you?’ to ‘what happened to you?’ During our sessions, we will identify your goals for therapy and use treatments that have been proven to help others with similar struggles.
Are there aspects of your life that you are unhappy with? Are you feeling anxious, struggling to follow your dreams or having difficulties in your relationships with your partner, children, friends or colleagues? If so, therapy can be helpful to you! Therapy is a space to discuss your struggles with a neutral person who is not a part of your family or your friend. In therapy, we will work together to better understand your struggles. We will focus on building new skills to help you navigate difficult emotions or situations. We will also explore how past issues may be impacting you in the present.

Much of my work and interest has focused on moving beyond trauma and loss, which we all experience, whether large or small; codependency, women's and relationship issues, and cross-cultural understanding.
Sometimes it helps just to have a caring nonjudgmental person to talk to and bounce ideas off. Sometimes, people need a gentle push along with clear steps to take to make things better. After over 35 years working with clients from children to adult, public and private settings, I have learned what differences to respect and what common themes and needs to honor for all human beings. Throughout my career as a counselor/psychotherapist, my strength continues to be my ability to understand human nature. I share with my clients knowledge, respect, and guidance. It is a two way learning process.

I have specialized training in working with trauma , substance abuse, chronic pain and anxiety.
Being a human can be really hard sometimes. Maybe it’s hard because there’s an area in our lives where we struggle, like in our careers or relationships. Perhaps, we’ve experienced some painful times that we haven’t fully healed from or find ourselves engaging in problematic behaviors. Whatever our struggles, I’ve found that psychotherapy can help reduce our suffering and help connect us to the joy of being alive.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
