As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I strive to use a positive psychology to bring insights and empowerment to my clients. Over the past 20 years, I have used Cognitive Behavioral techniques, a Person Centered approach and a warm style of coaching, to support individuals who struggle with mental and emotional difficulties. As a seasoned therapist and trained in EMDR for Trauma, I work with those who have Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Stress & Anger Management issues and a host of other life struggles. The focus in therapy is to move towards a more stable, healthy and progressive way of living.

Life can be filled with challenges and sometimes they become overwhelming. Those challenges can lead to feelings/thoughts of sadness, hopelessness, anxiety, panic, and sometimes the symptoms we feel can't necessarily be easily identified. If your goals include identifying the problem, engaging in a journey towards personal empowerment and developing the tools to handle life's challenges, I am here to help.

My clients are adults, usually midlife or older. They come to me for help with a variety of issues, including: life transitions, parenting, caregiving, or relationship difficulties, mental distress such as depression or anxiety, alcohol or drug problems, or a desire to resolve past traumas. I am comfortable and experienced with clients who want to strengthen their own spiritual resources in therapy and welcome diversity of all kinds.

Being a human can be really hard sometimes. Maybe it’s hard because there’s an area in our lives where we struggle, like in our careers or relationships. Perhaps, we’ve experienced some painful times that we haven’t fully healed from or find ourselves engaging in problematic behaviors. Whatever our struggles, I’ve found that psychotherapy can help reduce our suffering and help connect us to the joy of being alive.

2020 has been a tough year as we face this challenging time in our history. We’ve had to grapple with the longevity of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the uncertainty it brings. Challenges, which are further confounded by a complicated and divisive political climate make this a time of grief, trauma, loss, and difficult transitions for many. Physical distancing measures, forced adoption of new technology, and disruption of our routines, though necessary to reduce the spread of COVID-19, bring additional struggles with preventing isolation, remaining engaged with social supports, and coping with stress and anxiety. Her professional experience includes working within international humanitarian organizations, the legal arena and doing this work living on every continent except Antarctica.
